I have CK and EUIII. I've played EU but never owned or played EUII.

The appeal for me is that CK can be converted to EUII. I know you can convert CK to EUIII but the other reason is that I'm anal when it comes to things like keeping things in order and doing things the right way. Also, am I the only one who thinks that the maps for EUII are much more beautiful than the EUIII ones?

So the question is what are some good reasons for getting EUII and how is it different from EUIII especially from someone who's a bigger fan of CK than EU.

I like both games, CK and EUII andI must say that they are not the same in terms of playability , the warfare is completly diferent, almost everything except the engine... But the best thing in my opinion about EUII it's the events that AGCEEP make the experiene much better.

Even with loads of events I don't think that EU it's much of an historical game, I think it's more of a SimCity (SimNation), ye, it is worth getting, or just wait for FTG because it's an improved version of the original :)

Thanks. From what I've read it seems more historical so I will like it better. So I might just wait for that. I know CK and EU are completely different but I'm still interested in the 1453-1820 historical period.

Unless you want to start a collection, I would wait for For the Glory if I were you.

Thanks. Do you know if the Crusader Kings in-game converter will convert to For the Glory?

I had a lot of fun with EU2 and when EU3 came out there were a lot of things that I missed. When NA and more importantly IN came out though, EU3 is now in a completely different class. If your a completist then go ahead and get it, it is a very good game. But after you played EU3 you will not really want to go back.

I prefer the look of EUII to be honest. That's why I will get FTG.

Not that I'm completely ruling EUIII out...

Yeah I really liked the look of EU2 also. I am not sure if ftg is going to deal with things like free minting and th militray units issue, these were I think the main problems with EU2 apart from dodgy events.

What military units issue?

I haven't played in w hile, but as far as I can remember there is no free minting in EUII, or at least not with AGCEEP.
and what military unit issue are you talking about?

And take your heresy of "dodgy" events back to euiii forums ;)

By "free minting" I believe he is referring to the fact that you can keep your treasury at 0 without increasing inflation or taking a loan. In EU3 you'd have to either mint or take an auto-loan.

EU2 worth getting?

Id have to say no, played it solid for about 4 years (after finally letting go of EU1), then played on and off for about 2 years...personally starting to get fed up with it :D...

Though still find meself loading it up now and then...:D

Some say that a rehash is on the way, but I dont believe them.

I think I will get it even if I just use it to continue my CK games. As I understand AGCEEP doesn't allow converted CK games and therefore For the Glory won't either - makes sense since they're trying to be historically accurate etc...

Plus EUII is dirt cheap.

Have to wait and see if the changes implemented are enough for the conversion or if its agceep on steroids...personally I just couldnt get into agceep because of the events which would take provinces off me and give to other nations...was quite annoying.
FTG is not only about AGCEEP.

Oh, yeah I agree that was bugged. Hopefully FTG will fix it, although I always imposed a house rule to "mint" enough to pay my monthly expenses when my treasury was near 0.

strategic fail, just play multiplayer, you'll see it will improve your experience of the game allot:D

Yeah mp is great, but i just cant guarantee to set aside 5 hours on X day, for the next 4 - 6 months.

Aren't monthly expenses taken from investments when the treasury is at zero?

Yeah, I dont see what the talk is about 'free minting'....whats so wrong with talking cash out of investments?
