What do the greyed out research areas really mean?

For instance, to get the basic MG it says I need the sub MG--which I already have. But, I'm still not allowed to research the basic MG.

Any ideas?

There are white boxes with arrows. Those are prerequisites in other tech areas.

I half suspected that. But, I could find the specific tech in any other area.

look for "Tecnoflechas.exe" in your HOI2 directory,
start it and change language to "English" (upper right pull-down menu).
then click load, ok when it pops out.
Select any tech (green)
red ones are the direct prequesites for it (goes over all research category tabs)
or click "view details" when you have selectected one to see those preq. in one overview.

Basic MG needs Army Planning (industrial tab) which has some hefty preq. of its own

;)

I have a problem.I can't play it.I open the HoI2.exe,go to the menu,select the 1934 scenario,select a country,then I get an internal error.

I'm using Arma 1.2

I have the no time limit patch.

Or does anyone know a better one?Or maybe its something else?

I've had the same problem using HOI Anthology with 1.2 patch. It works fine without 1.2 patch.

hi small question: im japan and my ic is very low in 1940. i have conquered china and chose the imperial option. my ic is 147/97. i didnt crushed the coup etat (1937?). was that wrong ? is that the reason why my ic is that low ??? im playing on harder.

the oil comsumption of units when they arent moving or doing anything is plain game breaking , by the 40's everyone dont have enough oil because , wait my professional troops needs oil ? when they arent moving ? same for my planes and ships , why would they consume oil if they arent moving ?

this defeats the purpose of saving oil by not moving your armored troops to stock for a massive offense or defense

This is why a fully mobilized army is impractical. Even the major powers can only use a couple dozen mobile units and planes. Save up oil before the war and build mobile units last; don't build them just to have them sit around for years!

What about maintenance? Do you think tanks, airplanes, ships etc... are don't require maintenance?

But regarding professional infantry you're are right.
