Also bought a new computer, finally, I also bought Empire Total War, since, now I have a machine that can manage it.

This was 4 weeks ago, now i'm back to EU2 and Vicky, ...

I'm actually starting now. I've played SP games for more than 4 years but now I have recruited a friend who also is a EU2 fan so we are going to try a mp game today if we get it to work.

(Anyone know if a lan game is possible when I have vista and he has xp.)

EU2 greatest game ever

Connecting through IP has always been the easiest solution IMO. And yes, Vista and XP work together in eu2.

There are countless problems from connecting through IP. I really miss Vnet. I paid for a game with a multiplayer service, and not for one without it!

Anyone still do MP and stuff?

Is it a rhetorical question?! :p

A bit quiet lately, it's true. from my part, once I get a new conection I'll return to MP as fast as a sex-starved bull. That won't happen before october, I'm sorry

I can give you guyes an update for how it went. Since we found a little unusual solution to our problem. We were playing with both computers connected to wireless router. We could not get IP connection to work at all. This was a little alarming because the router we were playing on wasn't in our apartment. It belongs to someone in the buildiing who has no password on his router. (it's ok with him that we use his router) But after some troubleshooting we found this to work.

I host a game on Internet, my friend goes into the LAN option in EU2, he can see my game and (what we found out) if he connects right away we can play together. Strange, but it works. So now we play multi whenever we find the time.

cheers

(EU2, still the best game ever)

The only IP connection issue that comes to mind is router and firewalls, and that is an issue on the system of the user, not an eu2 issue.

Errrm, no. I have seen some people hosting, and almost everyone able to join except for some persons. These same persons, had no trouble to join other hosts, but had trouble joining these. Go wonder why.

Besides people always use hamachi since Vnet doesnt exist anymore, and that is really problematic.

It's strange, but there is always a solution. In any case whatsoever, the problem lies entirely on connection issues, ie the line of signals that try to get back and forth between two computers gets interrupted/can't connect, not on faulty code in the eu2 game.

I can't understand the issues people have with this software. Sometimes the servers are very busy and blocks connection, or they are down, but this happens very rarely. Besides that, I have had zero and none issues with hamachi.

Hamachi got countless problems with EU2. It might be good for other games, but it definetely is not for EU2. There are countless bugs - ranging from wierd army numbers, chat bugs, diplomatic problems (whenever you send any diplomatic proposal the other side CTDs), etc.

And although a minor nuisance, there is always a limit per network, and some times you cannot even connect to the servers because they are busy.

If you have had zero and none issues with hamachi, consider yourself a lucky man. I have seen problems like the ones i described before affecting players that i never saw having a problem online before.

Just these days, i have played 4 sessions online with hamachi, and there was only one where i didnt even hear of a single problem.

Of course people still play EU2!

People still play this game. Because this is THE best game in the EU series for me. Heck, I even know some people that still play EU1 (like me hehehe) just because we love the game.

As for the MP. I usually play it on the LAN with my friends.

I can never get LAN to work over Hamachi. Must be my router...

Amazing that this forum is still active after all those years, and people are still friendly. Amazing!
Recently restarted playing EU2 again, and its still a great game :)
