This will be my first AAR, as well as my first attempt at a Communist nation. I have begun at 1936, and have been working on low tech levels for production agriculture and the people's army, as most of my army is militia.

Goals:
- Stem Japanese Aggression on the Mainland.
- Create a united China through conquest.
- defeat the Japanese.
(Long range):
- promote Communism in South America/Europe by diplomacy and/or conquest.

Part I: 1936-July 1937
have been increasing my tech levels on production and agriculture, as well as the people's army. have not had enough leadership to do much else. Diplomatically have been aligning with USSR, and have a full cadre of spies lowering my neutrality. as with the technology, have not had the ability to send out spies into our core lands that we intend to liberate.

Part II: Japanese Aggression (July 1937 - Mid 1938)
Japan has declared war on our 'ally' Nationalist China. Shanxi, our neighbor and Nat. China's ally has declared war on Japan. We have as well, as we see this as an opportunity to begin our liberation & unification of China. Under the guise of sending assistance to the Shanxi/Manchuko front, and fully expecting a loss by the Shanxi, we intend to place our units in position to occupy half of their country upon its collapse, thus putting it under rightful CCP control. (ignore the text, was using that to plan and the numbers are incorrect)

with those areas nearest our homeland secured, we will solidify our line, and begin our advance into the more developed areas of Shanxi to conquer and hopefully annex it into communist China. The plan is to send 2 corps of militia on an advance to surround the enemy forces (where we expect their frontline will be roughly), and then squeeze out their supply and eliminate them. (my apologies on the incorrect marking of militia & mountain units - i'll fix that later)

at this point, Japan has just declared war, so I am moving my units into place to wait out Shanxi's demise.

Oh boy, I can't wait for more!

well, the plan has changed, as it always does. Japan declared war, and I saved the game right after, before accepting the call to arms by Nationalist China. When I reloaded the game, i could find no option to accept it...

so i decided to roll with it. Japan steamrolled through Shanxi, and into northern Nat China. They made an amphibious attack around Shanghai, and pushed into Xebei a few provinces... meanwhile, communist china was accepted into the Commintern.

I began to tire of the situation with Japan, and while I had intended to not make any modifications to the files, i used the noneutrality command, to join Nationalist China's war on Japan. i felt somewhat justified in using it since the savegame issue prevented me from declaring earlier. It did, admittedly, give me the benefit of the Japanese bypassing Chicom somewhat for their push into Nat China. as was the plan before, i pushed to the port of Dago in order to cut off the japanese. the vast majority of them were fighting the Nationalist Chinese Southeast of me. meanwhile, the commintern nations declared war as well on the axis, and the USSR waltzed into Manchuko and the Korean peninsula.

Communist Chinese forces, along with Nationalist forces cleaned up the remaining Japanese forces on the mainland, and we are currently nearing October 1938, when the first ship of the Communist Chinese Navy, a transport, will be commissioned at the port of Dago.

some thoughts on the current situation:

1. USSR... i wasn't crazy about them sucking up the entirety of Manchuria, but then again, i was very happy to have their firepower... so you sleep in the bed you make i suppose.

2. manpower & IC... I never have enough of either. this is a very tight budget game, as Chicom seems to have extremely low manpower, and at 14 IC when running on all cylinders, it makes progress slow.

3. where to go from here...
I am building a transport, but I think attacking the Japanese islands is foolish. That is a fight i cannot win right now, so my next target would have to be Nationalist China, which will be a tough fight that I may well lose... still deciding what to do now.

I just have to ask -- what is that crazy map?!

hehe... that map is a bit of a hybrid homemade deal. i found this map
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x3/Shelman_2007/0be58965.png
showing provinces, and erased out the sea as much as I could, leaving some lines at shorelines and land lines. then when i do a map screenshot with F12, i can overlay it on top of the province map and set it to about 60% transparency, and it shows as if the provinces are all filled in.

then i throw on whatever arrows/lines/text/etc i want on that
