When I got the events where you choose between Clauswetizian or Jominian or the naval one "trained crews" vs. "experience", or something like that there was no information on each choice.
Is it supposed to be like that?

Effects are shown on the event triggered by your choice.

Ok, but other events have a little pop up when you move over decisions, those don't?

Nope. Interesting part about this game is that it sort've forces you to read some history. I had never heard of "Jomini" before this game.

Vicky Wiki probably has some info on the exact way that each choice plays out in game mechanics. Basically Jomini troops get a boost to morale, and Clausewitz troops get a boost to organization. Later on, when firepower and organization is more important, nations with a Clausewitizian tradition do better (I think) but early when morale and shock are more important, Jominian troops tend to do better.

What is a major contributer to getting a country to surrender? Is it W.E. or are there others?

Provinces controlled seems to be just about all that counts. Capital provinces add 20% or something like that.

This seems to have been balanced to prevent gamey play by the human, i.e., the blobbing ahistorical Empires that happen in games like EU3. While it is fairly effective at that, the fact that wars drag on for years and years makes it feel a bit less than optimum. Hopefully they figure out some slightly better mechanisms in Vicky2 so that wars can sometimes end pretty quickly.

Yea because I blitzed brand new Bolivia they didn't have an army even and took their capital but they wouldn't surrender.

Ok, sigh, another question why don't three provinces in Brazil display a name, Porto Imperial, Calvacante, Villa Bella?

Some of the very small provinces don't display the name, there are a few in Brazil, one in Germany, and I think one other.

Getting them to surrender is all pased on your warscore. You may be demanding too much for them to agree too. War Ex. does play a part though.

:eek:oHow do I get some factories as Brazil?

Depends on the policy of the ruling party. If it's laissez-faire, only capitalists can build factories. You can get more capitalists by promoting clerk POPs. If it's interventionism, only capitalists can build new factories, but you can expand existing ones. Under state capitalism or planned economy, you can build and expand factories yourself.

Your best bet would probably be to lower rich taxes to 0%, and let your capitalists save enough money to build factories. Early in the game factories aren't that profitable though, you have to research some industrial techs for them to be profitable.

Thanks was wondering how to get some capitalists and it is 1853 so I have researched some industrial techs.

Also, capitalists can only build factories in the state they exist in, but they can build railroads anywhere.

Getting a Country to Surrender; Even if you overrun a country , control their capital (which is worth 25% warscore) you have a better chance to make them a satellite or getting war reperations then getting a country to give up a single peice of land. Warscore helps as well. The more troops you lose and the longer the war goes on the higher the score.

If a country has a claim on a peice of land , it's soverign territory , they would rather give money or even serve another power than give that land up.

From experience if a country has been overrun , has no troops, and a high war score it will start to offer you a peace deal for one or two provinces that border yours.

Capitalists make money based on your exports. You get capitalists by Turning farmers or labourers into clerks and then capitalists.

Your economic policy will change how quickly capitalists can construct factories and railroads. laissez faire requires the least (but your can't upgrade factories , create them, or make railroads but imports are at half the cost)

Interventionist is a good middle ground ( allows your to upgrade factories and make railroads, does not allow you to create factories) but requires more money for the capitalists to create things.

Planned economy takes a lot of money on the capitalists part but allows you to create and upgrade all facilities.

State planned is like the above but capitalists don't do anything other than sit around and get taxed.

hope that helps.

Okay I think this is the last question for awhile. Why do my unassigned pops still make money like crazy (craftsmen) I want them to migrate to the factories? Do I really have to tax them to 100%?

Unemployed Pop's still make money based off your exports like every other pops. If they are unemployed , have no cash reserves , and can't afford basic goods they will migrate. If they are short range pops you always hope they stay in country. if they are long range pops they head over to North/South America.

*Note* I'm just going off of my memory. Correct me if i'm wrong.
