Don't know if it matters, but this is a VIP 3.1 game.

Playing Austria, trying to change history some and get Austria as ruler of Germany. Besides the normal problems (including an agressive Russia), i just got the Liberal Revolution event.

Now i kind of knew this was coming and i've been playing some rebel wack-a-mole, but the efffects don't seem to be dying down. Is there an event or event-chain that leads to a restabilised Austrian Monarchy, or do i have to start thinking about reforming here?

I can't keep this up much longer, militancy is through the roof and the Russians are just waiting to hit me again. I haven't gotten to the Italian revolution just yet, but i can't imagine that will end well with the situation in the heartlands.

any tips are most welcome.

one exploitive way to lower your militancy is to raise cheap colonial divisions, and place them everywhere in your empire to have that -.2 militancy... You'll need the regulars for fighting, right?

The Liberal Revolution dies down after a few years and your plurality and revolt risks recedes. However you'll have lost alot of population (through mass emigration and simple old death) and things will never quite be the same. I'd suggest becoming a Constitutional Monarhcy before the Revolution.

As Austria if you go democratic you will pretty much constantly get that oen party that is Liberal with full citizenship. For a multi-ethnic Empire this is great so its probably best if you become a democracy early (const or otherwise). Just remember to build capatalists in all your main population cenrtres.

In My most humble of opinions...constitutional monarchy with parliamentary executive is the best government you can have (given the constraints of the game) so you dont have to worry about plurality and can change gobernments any time without penalties so you can build the factories you want.
Best of all worlds IMHO.

How do you get con mon with parliamentary executive?

Hi there henryjai:)

Thou Im sure you know it already I copy/paste bellow some Info I've taken from here and there from the revised manual and the vikywiky:

Executive Types

the Government type determines how the ruling party is chosen, while the Executive branch determines how much it costs to set the ruling party.
Law by Decree Executives add 2 militancy and consciousness to all your POPs every time you set the ruling party!
HMS Government Executives add 1 militancy and consciousness to all your POPs every time you set the ruling party.
Parliamentary Executives add 0 militancy and consciousness to all your POPs when you set the ruling party. That's right, it's free! (Remember that Democracies cannot set the ruling party)

- Democracies and Constitutional Monarchies cannot change their government through reforms.

event 23114 - Reform to Constitutional Monarchy, HMS Government
hit F12 to open up a screen, then type the code (e.g. "event 23111" or "money") followed by [Enter]. When you are finished entering codes, Alt-F12 closes the window.

HOWEVER NOTE THIS:

- The constitutional monarchy forced reform isn't working as written - in the game it gives you a Parliamentary system, not HMS Government as written in the event.

You cant change your executive thru reforms also so the only way I think to change is as I understand it, by means of either a revolution or by using the cheating code, and so due to the bug you get parlamentary executives instead of HMS, but I havent tested it. I have HMS because france starts with that executive, and as I'll soon be getting yet one more bonaparte dictator wanabee soon I dont want to change governments that will soon anyway change due to events but perhaps your situation is different and you want to try it.

Tell me how it works for you so I can make glorious plans to send bonaparte to cut sugar cane in guayana and put a cool constitutional monarchy that I can rule at my pleasure with an iron fist.:D
