So I'm gonna play as Prussia and I read the Vickywiki guide to uniting germany. I just want to know if I need to be allied with a country for them to accept my annexation. That might be hard because a lot of countries break my alliance when Austria contests my leadership.

Thanks in advance for the responses!

I'm not an expert on the German unification, but considering the amount of German states I think that would be an unreasonable requirement.

Whew! I was really worried for a second! Thanks

Defeat France in the Franco-Prussian war by invading France. An event should come up, a majority if not all of the German states should be annexed by you. If this fails just go back to the Austro-Prussian war and win, then form the German Confederation. After that just defeat France, after that you should be a full Germany.

I've done it twice under regular game and VIP. On January 15th, 1870 or after, if you occupy Paris and hold it, an event will pop pretty quickly and every german nation except Austria will join you. I think there is a slight (5%) chance they won't, but I have yet to not get them all, except Austria. There are harder ways to do it but I don't know if you want to try them because the chances are harder. The game automatically declares peace between you and France and if you don't have the German states that France holds (Down in the Metz area) you get those, too.

In one game they had the North German Federation and the South German federation because I chose Yes on event that asked if I wanted more influence in Zollverein (?). But, the unification still worked and I got all the minors from both federations.

Oops, forgot to mention, I have beaten Austria every time when the event "Enforce influence on Austria" or whatever it is called.

When you say beaten, what do you mean? Does a white peace count as beaten?
