Pretty wonderful so far. I like the pseudo-chronicles, yes, but I like the setting even more.

Isaak was a really interesting character; and I liked the stills of the battleplans. Animations can be very distracting.

Let's see how Murtaza does.

One day the generals will learn that battles are not led from the frontline.

Or, as someone said in my Saxon England AAR: :p

What a surprise... a king dead in battle, leading the van... again... from such a father, such a son.

[...]

Anyway, Judas, make your king repeat with me

Van=bad; rear=good: van=bad; rear=good; van=bad; rear=good

go on like that 1,000 times...

Good update. But your leaders and generals are dying like flies at the moment...

This is just the tip of the iceberg.

Whew. That was one momentous battle. At least you won it... technically...

Isn't that the best kind of win?

One day the generals will learn that battles are not led from the frontline.

How the are they suppose to inspire their men if they're all the way in the back? By shouting encouraging words using a megaphone?

Thank you, I'm glad you're enjoying it.

Emir Murtaza I ibn Abbad

The crown had barely been on Murtaza I's head for an hour before he rounded up his personal guard and headed to meet up with Joseph's army in Badajoz with dreams of engaging in a grand battle against the Badajoz army.

Unfortunately for Murtaza I, his general was already talking peace with the current leader of the Badajoz army, and terms were already hammered out by the time Murtaza I arrived. No land was to be seceded by either side, but Badajoz agreed to pay an annual tribute of 250 dinars and promised that their would be eternal peace between the two emirates.

An outraged Murtaza I returned to Seville where he continued to dream of glorious battles and stunning victories. In late 1096, Murtaza I got his chance: Pope Michael I decided to join in on his own Crusade and attacked the Murcia, which had continued to pay tribute to Seville. Murtaza I happily declared himself for the emir of Murcia. He rounded up an army and marched to the defense of Murcia.

Along the way Murtaza I's army ran into a group of mercenaries. Hot for battle, Murtaza claimed he'd best the leader of the mercenaries in combat. It is entirely too bad that Murtaza I had no training with a sword of any sort.

Murtaza I's inflated sense of honor resulted in his premature death.

When I said "Let's see how Murtaza does", I did not expect THAT.

You have heirs, though?

Lol, epic update.

The next ruler isn't much better.

You have heirs, though?

When I first read your comment I started laughing, then I wondered if you had some sort of powers. You aren't a warlock are you?

And yes, Murtaza had two kids. After that, the next in line is Murtaza's younger brother.

From this day forth Murtaza shall be remembered as Murtaza the huge fail. So how long did he last on the throne, a week, a month. Hopefully he has some smarter brothers.

He lasted maybe half a year. As for smarter brothers, Murtaza had five siblings, one of which lived past the age of two. I've been getting some terrible events.

I just caught up with this, and I must say one thing: HAHAHAHHA, your rulers die quicker then anything I've ever seen. Mine usually last too long; when then die, their sons have had sons who only have daughters, and then I lose the game.

You seem to be doing well, however. Even with your rulers dying like flies.

  Talk about your anticlimax. Hopefully his successor is a little less... dead in battle.

Yes it was a little bit of an anticlimax, wasn't it?

Hey, when you've played CK as much as I have, you learn to roll with the punches.

[I felt the need to get this out of the way, due to the hilarious short reign of Kawsen.]

Emir Kawsen I ibn Abbad

emirkawsen.png

After a brief funeral, Murtaza I's youngest son Kawsen was crowned Emir Kawsen I in a hurried ceremony. Kawsen I, a year old at the time, was ruler in name only; in actuality the Berber components of the Sevillian court were in control. By placing the young Kawsen on the throne, they hoped to gain control of Seville.

Unfortunately for them, that would not be the case.

Assassins abound!

Emir Kawsen I ruled for less than a month before the old guard of the Sevillian court had him assassinated and his brother Mubarak named Emir of Seville. The Berbers in the court were soon arrested on the charge of being traitors. They were all hung the day of Mubarak's crowning as Emir of Seville.

All hail Emir Mubarak I Abbad! May his reign last for more than a few months!

HAH!

Writing an AAR as the game goes along - always a challenge, and sometimes funny too

Looking back, it is pretty funny, but when I was playing you couldn't believe how much I swore at CK.

Hah, what is that, 5 rulers in 10-20 years? Wow, Court intrigue and hilariously foolish duels, I like it!

I'm glad you're enjoying it, I certainly wasn't.

Enough heirs left?

It was getting pretty close, but thankfully, yes.

...

Are we going to have a Year of Four Emirs, or something?

Thankfully, no. Things stabilize a bit after Kawsen. At least, as stable as things can be when you're playing CK.

Really, this is just getting ridiculous... Aren't Emirs allowed to live these days :D.
