Badboy threshholds and aggressivness

Just a quick question: does the badboy threshold change depending on the difficulty setting? Because as Austria I defeated Prussia and took a handful of south German provinces. I was careful to make sure that my badboy hit less than 20, ending up on 15.5. A month later, France Russia and later the UK all gang up on me and beat the crap out of my demobilized army and shaken economy. It's been such a blow to my game that I've decided to start he entire goddamn campaign again, but just for future reference I'd like to know what the BB threshold is on aggressive (the aggressiveness I was playing on).

i think theres no threshold as such, it's a combination of badboy, relative military strength and relations. If you have good relations with your potential enemies or are close to them or stronger in military power then you'll find you can have loads of badboy.

In my current france game i'm in the 70's in bad boy in the 1870's and still no BB wars.

Aye, it does seem to be that the AI declares war rather sporadically; in this new game I've annexed Bavaria (courtesy of the liberal revolution ) sending my badboy up to 19, and still now DOW. My relations are worse with France and Russia than they were last game, so go figure.

I certainly got more BB than you (at 1870) when I played France .... I think it is several hundred.

When you have an massive army, normally people won't bother to DOW you except micro powers like Argentina.

Yeah, if you are weaker you have to watch out. In a belgium game i got into many BB wars (especially with portugal who delacred war 3 times before i was forced to annex it) and all i did was conquer part of the netherlands and 1 or 2 uncivs. France and germany went to war several times over me (i was allied to one or the other) germany even gave me a chunk of france in a peace deal. I survivied a war after that with germany but the second one (without allies) led to my complete defeat in the 1890's.

Curiously, I wonder why PI coded that Argentina/Japan would DOW you regardless of their military strength, read my AAR for details.

they are the only countries that DOWed me after my BB exploded. I could understand the spirit of Banzai of the Japanese, but Argentina?

Lol ya. I just got dow'd in my piedmonte game by france during the papal states event(cant remember the name). The funny thing is my relations with france was 194, i had just accidently guaranteed their independence and then they guaranteed mine and then they dow'd. :rofl: Which brings me to my question: where do i find my badboy ranking...ive only dow'd on parma, modana, lucca, tunisia, and tripoli

If you use the Open Negotiations trick and gift 100 gold to the major powers, you can build relations up relatively quickly and keep the heat off you. An alliance with Russia, UK or Germany is usually invaluable for mainland Euro countries.

I don't think it consumes more then using 'improve relations' unless you get really lucky with the later
