I've been toying with the idea of creating a mod for quite a while now, and as of recently, I've been trying to iron out a basic timeline. I don't intend for it to be completely plausible, as the main goal is for the players to have fun with the events taking place now. Anyways, here's a time line; I have some more stuff to add to it (obviously, just look at the year. 
), and I have a few things set in-stone.
Aside from that, I'd be looking for help as I'm not completely adept at modding HOI2 yet.

March 1871 - Commune of Paris is formed.
December 1871 - Commune of Paris succeeds in defeating the Royalists, and has victory in Mainland France. The Commune Republic of France is formed.
August 1874 - Commune Republic of France and the German Empire sign the Treaty of Berlin, agreeing to work together.
September 1874_January 1889 - Cold War exists between the Franco-Prussian alliance and the British.
February 1889 - Franco-Prussian alliance declares war on Britain, after the sabotage of a German naval vessel by British agents.
March 1889_July 1902 - The Franco-Prussian alliance is successful, and Britain surrenders. The British lose their colonies, with the French and Prussians divying them up.
November 1903_March 1904 - After the loss of its colonies and status as the dominant world power, a devastated economy, and severe unrest within the population, a civil war erupted within The British Home Islands. The end result was a Socialist victory, supplied by the Commune Republc of France. The Socialist Republic of Britain is formed.
March 1904 - Canada ends all relations with the new Socialist Republic of Britain, and shifts its main focus towards the United States of America.
April 1904 - The German government announces the dissolvement of the Treaty of Berlin, ending the alliance between the Commune of France and the German Empire.
November 1904 - CRF and SRB form the First International, and sign the Treaty of Brest.
June 1906_April 1911 - Commune Republic of France and the Socialist Republic of Britain declare war against the German Empire, with the short term goal of recapturing Alsace-Lorraine. The war drags on for five years, after the French make significant gains into Germany. Russia, Italy, and Austria-Hungary promises support to Germany. The war ends in a Socialist victory, with the French reclaiming Alsace Lorraine.
1911_1924 – A depression hits the allied countries of Germany, Italy, Austria-Hungary, and Russia; the worst the world has seen. OTL, The Great Depression.
October 1914 – The Bolsheviks declare independence in Russia; Soviet Russia is formed. Russian civil war ensues.
June 1916 – End of the Russian civil war. The Baltic States, Finland, numerous Central Asian nations, and Poland are separated from Soviet Russia and Royalist Russia. The Soviets control the Western, more industrialized areas, while the Royalists are sent out East. America, breaking away from its isolationist stance, supplies the Royalists.
May 1918_January 1920 – The Ottomans, seizing the opportunity of a weak Italy, declare war, leading to the Italo-Ottoman war. The war is a disaster, leading the Ottoman Empire into a decline and civil war. Italy, in a neo-Roman resurgence, claims the coastal provinces bordering the Mediterranean as spoils of war.
August 1920_April 1921 – The Italians, in an attempt to control the Eastern Mediterranean, launch a campaign against Greece, known as the Italo-Greek war. The war ends in an Italian victory, with the Greeks being compressed into the new Roman Empire.
