I've finished another part of work about Polish colonialism.

Nothing important with some possible benefits if you are lucky, but important because it occupied thoughts of almost 1 million people at that time.

Luckily he hasn't won. :) But tbh what would you have done instead of this mod??

I'd use this time to help with language lessons.

Progress report -

I am currently working on EST events dealing with coastal artillery and mines and the danger they can pose to Soviet navy.

It is quite difficult to write, but the general idea is that enemy ships spending too much time in some areas might suffer damage unless coastal artillery is destroyed and minefields cleared.

Unfortunatelly it involves several weird triggers which complicates the process a lot, but if survives the tests it ould be incredibly useful and make some sense considering Estonia spent millions on coastal defences. :)

NEWS
=======

Almost everything is ready, but will have to be tested for several hours.

CZE and NOR units in exile are not added yet. t should be easy to prepare so I think the pack will include those features.

Compared to the previous edition there are several improvements:

- event activated recon airplanes for everybody,
- JAP floatplane fighters,
- bunch of events about Polish units for FRA and SOV which will be given to liberated (or 'liberated' if it is about SOV) POL so that it will start with reasonable armed forces,
- many triggers were corected so that will work only if certain amounts of supplies are gathered,
- POL promethean liberation events are slightly modified so should work as intended now,
- LIT, LAT, EST OOBs modified with a number of events to support mobilzation of local paramilitary forces,
- Finnish Gulf can be blocked now with event activated mining events by EST and POL - if it works I might later implement some similar event chains.
With some luck SOV navy might lose some of their precious capital ships this way.
- many new icons and images,
- a number of other improvements which I don't remember at this moment,

Now I need to integrate skipskip's Norway Mod also for testing purposes.

I must add I am quite proud with my mining events also because this way millions invested by Estonia in their defences can result in something.
It really is quite possible to lose Soviet battleships if facing this country and if you are not carefull.

@LodovicoAriosto

There will be a new edition in a couple of days. It will include only two new icons for CZE as this question was mostly covered earlier.

Let me ask you again about proper install order. I am always a bit confused because some files seem to be extracted into \mod-CORE folder's gfx and some into main AoD folder's gfx.

1. CORE installer - path - C\Program files\Paradox Interactive\Arsenal of Democracy

2. CORE black and white graphics installer - same path

3. Your pack ed. 3 - extract - same path

4. Superpatch - extract - same path

Correct?

Yes.

It works fine. I launched a Poland game and it is brilliant!

Do you recommend to join the Allies in 36 manually or should I rather wait for events?

Treat your first game as a testing run to develop correct or at least better strategy and test options.

In general I'd wait to 1937 with attempting to join the Allies because before that time it is possible that CZE will propose alliance (possible only if Benes is replaced) which is quite useful.
Alternatively you might try to forge alliance with Hungary, Romania and other countries to the south.

Baltic States will join you if you chose ahistorical options in 'IMPORTANT' and if you followed Lithuanian ultimatum in 1938.

I am still not really sure what is the best stategy, but I attempted to make it profitable to wait untill 'Danzig or war' so without earlier DOWs.

In a couple of days I will release the next edition so untill that time you might want to see how it all works and what choices you will have.

I will attempt to test the latest edition as soon as possible so that there are no CTDs generated by this pack - in CORE there are some (it is still a beta after all!) in more complicated situations so you'd be better with autosaving every 5 or so months.

if you chose ahistorical options in 'IMPORTANT'

Yes, I did. I pursued the path which offered as many as possible new events.

A perfect step to take, IMO. I will wait for events to come - the gameplay is already immersive. :D

And perhaps I will learn more about Poland. :eek:o It is a shame that the Polish often know much more about Czechs than vice versa. Many people here are a bit arrogant towards other Slavic nations lately.

so you'd be better with autosaving every 5 or so months.

Fortunately, autosave times went rapidly down with the 1.04 patch.

I can tell you that no significant boosts came until September 38 where I am now. I am starting to be nervous... CZE voted right in 36 (paternal autocrat) and joined Germany as a puppet via event in spring 38. No offer of alliance to me.

I have a chance to manually ally with Romania or join the Allies and I am probably going to do it since the situation seems to be serious. I hope that bad AoD's battle AI will save me.

There was an ultimatum to Lithuania. However, it has not resulted in anything so far. Perhaps the Baltic states will join me by event.

Costly, but it is the only choice to make for a decent game after German are defeated.

Poles don't know a thing - that is my opinion.
Attitude towards Czechs is between patronising and myth building with some envy (especially about Prague which survived the war), but mostly as if Czechs were our little brother. Rather sad.

I even had to revise my own knowledge to large extent preparing this pack.

Tat is very rare fortunate/unfortunate thing.

Fortunate because rightinst government is the only one which makes it possible to create an alliance, but only if Teschen/Zaolzie question is answered which is quite possible, but less than 50% probable.

There is a long chain of events which give such options and in this case playing as CZE allows more because some unpopular moves can be made.

BTW I've recently found another reason for animsity between pre-war POL and CZE. Namely 5th Rifle Division in Siberia which was left stranded after CZE Legion found an agreement with the Reds.
Some future POL high commanders were there and most likely never forgot the incident.
It is not taken into account in the pack, but relatively small probability of an alliance recreates that fact rather well just like the presence of the Soviet-CZE agreement from 1935 which was seen in POL as hostile.

Anyway fascist CZE as enemy is very bad news - its army is large and will be a problem and this way you lost some opportunities such as purchasing ex-CZE weaponry or forming CZE legion (up to two divisions).

I have a chance to manually ally with Romania or join the Allies and I am probably going to do it since the situation seems to be serious. I hope that bad AoD's battle AI will save me.

Romania is a good ally. The key advantage is that their army is almost completely at your disposal if you MC them.
They will send some exp. divisions but you can always chose what to keep under your doctrines as your divisions and what to MC.
leaving 6-8 divisions to protect SOV border should leave you with over a dozen of units which can create an entire front on their own or support your divisions in some areas.

If your relations with HUN are good - trading to rise it to 50 and influencing them later helps - they will be potential allies of great value most likely possible to manually invite to your alliance after 1st September uness it is possible earlier.
Their army is quite decent and offer another direction to attack, especially in Slovakia to destroy some enemies.

BUL and even GRE might be possible to invite before or after the war starts and both can give 1-3 divisions which prioritised and with good commanders would work well. Of course it will take time to do somethng with their support.

Allies will join the war in 1940 whatever you do.

In the next edition there will be a posibility to form two divisions in France even with POL still existing, but now alliance with ENG and FRA gives you only some limited support.

There was an ultimatum to Lithuania. However, it has not resulted in anything so far. Perhaps the Baltic states will join me by event.

Historically reapprochment between POL and LIT was the most important problem. The ultimatum led to a mini-purge in LIT government removing strongest enemies of POL which led to a proposal to ally as early as in 1938, but this is not covered in the game because could derail many events (esp. Memel).

Maybe I will add it to the next edition if I make certain nothing bad happens.

In the game you can expect LIT to propose something in May 1939 as it was historically done.
LAT and EST will most likely follow if it happens.

I have taken into account old cooperation with those two countries, rumours about their interest in such agreement and details such as Laidoner's visit in Warsaw in April 1939.

Balts are good allies - should help in destroying enemy in Konigsberg very, very much. After it is done it is smat to keep one-two divisions from each country on the frontline (prioritiesed) while the rest guards their borders with SOV or (LIT) occupies Konigsberg.

A piece of advise - if you are attempting to take Memel do so with LIT division which is not an exp. corps - otherwise memel will be given you and LIT needs it more (its their core province) also for some events to activate.

Whatever you do you must have one large ally - otherwise SOV will invade and that will be a nightmare.
FIN and ROM might join you in such case, HUN too (or send volunteers) + many 'Promethean' divisions will start appearing, but however bad SOV army is you are so dead if it happens during the war with GER...

More icon sets to show.
The boards will be included in the download as a reference and resource - packed so it will be just about 2 megabytes in pictures.

I am playing a testing game right now.

Several reloads to correct some mistakes, one CTD (eliminated - really silly thing...) and some random and lucky results:

Happened in different games. Second is really important - believe me, you'd like to see that triggering in your game.

First with minimal consequences, but also unlikely to happen.

Currently I am playing in 1937, just after 10th Cavalry Brigade, the COP and Rayski's plan events for this year.

I will try to play to 1939 tomorrow and if it runs smothly I will upload the mod. :)

I need another day for testing - to see how POL army in France works if POL is allied with France.
I am playing two campaigns to see what is the best way to play with this country.

I am starting working on Edition V

With that I'd like to see more solid information about CORE 0.50 and it won't happen in a while so progress will be slow.

This time I'd like include all Norwegian events from Skipskip's mod - events which require a bit of polishing up.

Second major feature is (hopefully) POL in the exile.

It will use one province in the UK or France - in this case I decided that it is still too early for an off-map area as a capital. I will in the end use this solution, but after the first run with the gov. in exile is done.

Together with this feature there will be also a chain of events of POL units under British command which although were a part of independent Polish Army will suit better any player who is willing to select Britain.

Gov in exile should be a non-AI feature, very unusual and exotic feature I might add so requiring human control.

As usual when I am done with it, the Gov. could be used as a template for other, similar constructs for other occupied countries, but those - let's be frank - either have colonies to help them and/or were far less important.

Some of you might notice now another reason why the 'special features' were included in the pack - one of several ways to help such entities to do something in the game without any risk of losing a combat worthy division or brigade.

Third feature, which is for now only optional, is adding Slovak and Czech uprisings and reworking Warsaw Uprising. The last one with future POL Secret State in mind so as usual a piece of a puzzle in another great design.

Thankfully I have a very entertaining and realistic description of a successful uprising scenario, which unfortunatelly would also require another revolter state - i.e. SOV controlled POL because one possibility is a timeline where there are two Polands - a variant of East vs. West Germany.
Fortunatelly I already have virtually all commanders for this entity and ministers are quite well coverd by my additions for Soviet takeover event chain.

Another thing - I am still adding new images, some are being prepared for new 'brigade' attachments planned for 0.50.

I am also preparing new images to help users to predict choices influencing TTs in the game.

And finally I am adding new leaders in POL file - foreigners used in the Promethean events so not exactly Polish such as this Georgian Armenian and POL major who fought at Monte Cassino and could be more important in a case of a 'promethean' conflict with the Soviets. Just like with all foreign commanders their ranks were lower than expected during the war - for example commander of allied UKR army Pavlo Shandruk was only a colonel, but would lead even 9 division strong (after all phases of mobilization of the force) allied army.

nowe-2.jpg

His name is misspelled, but it is already corrected.

No haste, no rush - there is plenty of time and no real life event endangering the Great Plan.

THis will be complete when a better map is used by the mod, when 0.50 is playable and when all my features are in working condition including also three new revolters - Soviet Poland (relatively easy), POL Ukraine (mini-state released during the war against the SOV which transforms into UKR when Kiev is liberated/occupied) and maybe also little known Tartar Crimean Republic which existed for a couple of years after 1917 and historically was trying to receive Polish protection (was quite predictable with its gov. overran by Polish and Lithuanian Tartars).

For the last one I'd need better studies about Tartar politicians and some ideas for commanders for this state. Hopefully something will be published untill that will be required or I will try to contact Crimean Tartar associations - something I've done in the past for a different nation in another mod so hardly anything new.

ceg, do this:

open the POL leaders.csv - press return one time - close and save. and finally Mr. Halczewskyj will show up in game.

Capaign report.

Probably for the first time on AoD I am actually playing a campaign instead of testing.
I started with POL and now there is spring 1943.

Damn difficult. Rommel has just thrwarted my attempt to occupy Cottbus with Armia 'Kraków' (commander - field marshall Szylling - skill 3, engineer, defender, hills fighter, ranger) supported by general Kutrzeba ( skill 5, offensive tricskster, hills fighter) and general Sosnkowski (skill 3, offensive and defensive doctrine).

I was trying to grasp opportunity created by enemy counterofensive on Libelec just a moment earlier occupied by my other forces - general's Anders 6 divisions (skill 7, yes 7! offensive, trickster, fortress buster) supported by forces under allied Lithuanian general Rastikis (skill 3, logistical wizard, elastic defence specialists, hills fighter) and polish-czechoslovak forces under general Boruta-Spiechowicz (skill 4, commando, hills fighter).

Playing is not only more difficult, but also quite frequently annoying - there is one random, unrelated CTD triggering at some time in later 1941 and the vanilla map simply isn't well suited to numerous needs of AoD where more provinces would make a huge difference.

For strategy with POL I'd recommend offensive in Eastern Prussia while defending Danzig and Bydgoszcz with sizable forces, even with some divisions sacrificed for vallhalla.
This is supposed to destroy enemy divisions in this area which should allow massive offensive in the south - through Slovakia to Austria.

In my game I was stopped in the south eventually and thrown away from Munich-Salzburg, though only after I destroyed almost 20 enemy divisions cut off in Austria.

1942 was extremely important because at that time I could spare over a dozen of divisions to attack and capture Oppeln which is extremely important if it is a core (depends on your earlier choices) which will quickly give 4th techteam slot. That was followed by other attacks and capture or Kurstin and Breslau. Enemy seems to play a 'Kurland disaster' reannactment scenario because he deployed over 30 divisions in Stettin and Danzig while I could launch attack across Oder.
Attack which is underway because I am ammassing a number of brand new infantry divisions (reformed reserve infantry) to crush Rommel and own Berlin to the end of the year.

What suprised me is the rate at which your commanders can gain skill - right now I have no less than 3 skill 7 commanders - Kowalski, Anders and Maczek and each of them started with 1.
Of course I cared about them a lot - each of them commands divisions with over 50 experience points right now - but it is still smething I didn't expect.

Back to campaign.

@bestmajor

Thanks!

I didn't spot this error when I was testing it recently.
Thankfully the character in question is a traitless general, so no real loss to anybody.
