I had a quick look at this, and while I can't work out why you're having a problem with the models.csv file (I'm not having the same issue myself, as far as I can tell), the reason why you're not getting the model pictures to show is that they're not named correctly in the gfx/interface/models folder.

Doh, I didn't even notice the differences in model naming:eek:o

Thanks for the tip. Anyway, you mentioned that you don't have the same issue - have you already modified the picture names in the gfx/interface/models folder to fit the AoD naming convention?

If so, can you please put those pics somewhere for upload? It would save me a lot of time in renaming all those files :) In return I can share with you my modified national ideas and their improved modern era pictures.

so how far have you done? it it playable?

In a sense. There are still a number of things to be ironed out, but it does work.

I'll try and get on this tonight, if I have the time. If not, then I'll get it done some other time this week.

Hmm what are these differences in model naming:confused:

MDS uses some slightly unusual model numbering in order to achieve an effect where by each model of armour can be upgraded once, but not more than that, which it does by missing certain model numbers out. Zokan had simply forgotten to renumber the model icons in-game, which resulted in them not displaying correctly.

Just played some AoD and got to think about my old MDS games in Arma. Popped in here to see if it had been converted and saw your thread. Just wanted to say that it's good to see that someone is trying to make the conversion, and ask if you've made any more progress. Is it playable for you? If so, could you share your progress with us on the forum? Keep up the good work either way!

I'd love to share what I've do so far, but a few things are holding me back on that front:

1) I don't have permission of the original developers to share my work, and I really wouldn't want to proceed without it.
2) I've not really kept much of a track of what I've changed, aside from a few hasty notes. I really only did this for my own amusement, so there's little detail with regards what I'd need to package together and post up in order for others to use my work.
3) There are still numerous bugs and balance issues that need to be ironed out before this can be called truly playable. Bear in mind that MDS is still very much a WIP as it is; the conversion to AoD requires some quite serious rebalancing that is currently beyond my abilities.

Thanks for the "guide to converting", was having the same problem as you. Let's see if I can convert it to AOD and then convert the date to 2003. Then it's bug crunching time, which is a huge task - to find everything, and to solve it.

If you are interested, we can perhaps cooperate on making a working release? If you are, and all goes well with releasing a stable version for AoD, you can even take over the mod. At least it will be open for a new team, as all members of the MDS2 team are occupied elsewhere.

If you play trough it a couple of times, you will probably get an equal good idea of the events and errors with them as I have, as I did very little event work. (But most other things)

We'll talk. :)

Just so that people don't think this has been abandoned, Killerrabbit and myself have agreed to work together on this. Give us a bit of time to get everything working properly and tested and we'll have MDS running on Arsenal of Democracy!

Great news!

Just to let everyone know that, as can be seen here, Killerrabbit has officially stepped down as leader of the MDS mod; I shall be taking up the reins in his stead and continuing the development of this mod for AoD.
