Alaska Purchase

Is it just me or is the Alaska Purchase noticeably missing in the game? All of the other major US expansions (Texas Annexation, Mexican Cession, Oregon Treaty, and even Hawaii Annexation) are covered except for this one. Has anyone done any work on to in terms of triggers, timing, etc?

I guess it depends if USA succeeds to gain control of California and Texas. Altough you can sell it to Britain...

I guess an event could be written to hinge on those events, but I just find it odd that there are events which virtually guarantee the historical expansions except for this one.

In every game I've played as the US, Texas always joins the Union, Mexico always accepts the Treaty Of Guadalupe Hidalgo so long as you can whip them in a war (even if you don't fight a war there's events for the US to buy Texas and the Mexican Cession), and Hawaii always surrenders to the US. Although Hawaii can potentially surrender to another power, the point is that it doesn't stay independent. In every game I've played Russia eventually claims Alaska as a territory and doesn't even consider attempts to purchase the Colonial Claims or the territories after they've claimed the land.

I was just throwing it out there to see if anyone had any interesting thoughts about what triggers it or the possibility that another power might buy it like UK/Canada.

The Alaska Purchase always happens in every game for me. I've got VIP:R installed. It always gets sold to the US except one time, I think it got sold to the UK who gave it to Canada eventually, if I'm not remembering wrong.

You're right, in vanilla atleast the Alaska purchase has never fired for me, I guess VIP changed that...I'm downloading it now
