I predict a hard fight that will divide Korea into Chinese North Korea and Japanese South Korea.:p

Chapter XIX: On to Beijing!

China decides to give us a justification for war and of course we don't hesitate to react. Strange I don't have a casus-belli when I go to the DOW-screen yet again -bug- (no not for aquire state either).
The decision isn't an easy one. Do I want to get some states, cut them down to size, or conquer all of China.Took me quite a while to decide but in the end I go with annex. I am mad for fighting the Chinese, then why not make the maximum possible demands.

At the start of the war I have 80 brigades and a total population of 11.66 million (x3). My soldier POP is 480.000 men strong and the standing army 240.000. Last time I checked the Chinese had 560 brigades and their population is off the scale.

As said before, the plan is quite simple. The first two major battles are fought in Ninguta and Jilin, the later one of monumental proportion. Battle in Jilin is joined on July 20th, four days after declaring war and lasts till late September. The battle in Ninguta is fought from early August to October 6th.

At Jilin general Yoshika Akiyama locks the Chinese commander, whome outnumbers him 1,5 to 1 but only has infantry at his command. Akiyama can envelop his flanks and batter him with artillery and in so doing make the Chinese waver. Before long however, the Chinese are reinforced, and again, and again. Their general: Nalan Linge, puts up a spitired fight and even brings some cannon to the battlefield.

Outnumbering our forces more then 6 to 1 I need to do something quickly or I will be beaten in my very first battle. First one, then another of my seven armies joins the fight. Before long a third force is added while as the Chinese get reinforced once again. In the end it is 100k VS 200k and a Japanese victory.

The battle was long, extremely bloody and tells us a few things. First of all the Chinese have researched military technologies and thus we might not be ahead of them all that far. Secondly.....this battle has bought them enough time to fill all of Manchuria with troops.

Oof, that was a close one there!
And I reckon you may just get your ass ground to dust under the heels of 1million+ chinese :D

Ma...ma....maximum demands? ANNEX? Are you CRAZY man?

Bad idea to go for full annexation.

You should have demanded Manchuria and Taiwan with mabye the area at the mouth of the Yangtze as an absolute maximum.

I can't see you winning this one without a terrible cost of life.

I do hope you plan on releasing some puppets once China falls.

Annexing China? Well, you certainly are brave. But you should remember that if you don't fulfill your wargoal, your POPs will be mad, and since half of the army has arrived home in caskets by then, they will propably go apesh*t on you. I hope you took this into consideration, otherwise you might aswell throw in the towel.

I did take all of these factors into consideration and thought:

This will be interesting.

This should be good. *goes to get the popcorn*

Don't forget to blockade their harbours (if you have a large enough navy). I expect the Koreans to start another revolt pretty soon because there is going to be some awesome warweariness with all the caskets passing through. Make sure to keep some garrissons behind while you are backpacking through China.

Well, then I guess all I can say is "Good luck, you're gonna need it", AND I'll be waiting to say that I told you so ;)

just came too think about something, if you blockade the entire chinese coastline, wouldn't prices on several raw materials skyrocket?

somewhat emu'ed on the minute :D

At losses of 1:4 and forces of 1:6 i'd say Japan is still slowly losing the war. However with warscore of already 23 there are chances for a quick(ish) victory?

The militancy has dropped to just 0.23 since the Korean rebellion.

Pretty glad they rebeled sooner rather than later, eh? :D

Doesn't it seem horribly unbalanced to be able to conquer China in a single war, especially since he's up to the mid 20s warscore already after just two battles.

I've never played a Paradox game in which the warscore from battles has actually mattered :p
Besides, its gonna be a "little" tough to fight against both the huge chinese military as well as any future rebellions (if they're annexed at all)

Agincourt conquered France. Not for very long, mind you, and there was a convenient princess for the marrying of, but still.

Annexation? You are more then crazy, you are mental! This will be interesting...

So, how are Chinese? Mostly irregulars or some proper units as well?

No, a gruelling series of follow-up campaigns effectively conquered some of France :) Like Hastings, the decisive battle opened the way to a conquest lasting years.

China is far too big to roll over and surrender as one to barbarian scum just because a dynasty is decapitated, anyway. Not without some serious follow-up.
