Perhaps next time sweet-talk the russians into attacking China first, and then try to annex manchuria while they are distracted. Also with a much larger fleet you could have seriously hurt them with blockades.
The Chinese are sueing for white peace twice a year. To bad for them I am not interested (yet).
My initial relation with Russia was -65, bringing it up to friendly will take some time so I don't know if I can ally them in time for the war's end. And then I might not want them as a partner in this because, if I can pull this stunt off, I want to release Mongolia.
Does China have the tech to mobilise or do you at least still have that advantage over them?
If your navy has got them pinned in why don't you try landing some troops on a different part of the coast? An attack in the south would at the very least draw some of their forces away and give you the breathing room you need to reorganise.
What does your budget look like now you are mobilised?
Great AAR and there was me thinking that the game came out today and I could play rather than read!

At a certain moment all of Korea up to the Pyong-Yang had been lost to the Chinese. But then the in the first months of 1860 the front stabilizes and my battered professional armies are able to regain strength while the newly recruited farmers are holding the line. A daring operation in the autumn of 1859 had bought us a lot of time as well. Eight brigades, a total of 24.000 troops had been landed behind the Chinese line in Chongjin. Beating back Chinese armies several times the size of theirs they were able to severely disrupt the influx of Chinese reinforcements and might well have diverted defeat in the nick of time.
Far to the north a second front opens and yet again Chinese troops are on our territory terrorizing our new found colony. The first foothold in southern Japan had only recently been eradicated by the mobilized draftees after a gruesome series of battles. Having defeated a small Chinese naval force I march 60.000 men to the north and decide to kick the enemy out of my territory moving into theirs at the same time. By late summer of 1860 my armies set foot in the far northern part of China and will begin their long march south.
At the same time battles on the border are again won as our troops are victorious for the first time in 18 months. All of Korea has been retaken and this time we have to charge and charge hard to keep up momentum, not give them the time to recuperate from defeats, no time to gather nor to break our front and we might still pull this off.
Interesting twist actually. Go Team Nippon. Though I wonder, what triggered this sudden winning streak of his? Are the chinese already rising up in arms because of a costly war of attrition for the chinese people? Is it war exhaustion? The sheer uber manliness of the japanese generals?

Maybe he got lucky and the Taiping rebellions are just getting underway? That would certainly keep the Qing busy. Regardless, he seems well on track in the competition for the title of the bloodiest war of the 19th century.
As i said: he's pulling through no reason to worry, it's just the little nation of China, with an army a couple of sizes larger than the nearest competitors, nothing to be worried about xD
With all those victories what is the war score looking like? Did you really win 15 odd for that first victory? And can you annex them when the score hits 100 or do you have to go and capture all of their provinces?
I'm not sure if I should be cheering for you or the valiant Chinese defenders, but one things for sure, I'm going to enjoy all the slaughter regardless of who wins.
Well, I think I'm going to cheer for your success. Just so I can see you trying to hold it after conquering it.
He isn't going to win, if he does then the game suffers from balance issues. And even if he does win I refuse to believe that he would be able to keep China under control forever since odds are that all of China would rise up in anger at some point and I can't imagine that being a very pretty sight.
