This scum is ruining the proud venezuelan nation by freezing my taxes and tariffs. I was making 4-5 each day with the Conservative at Power and taxes at about 60%, now I make 0,7-1,2!
At the beginning of the last election campaign the latest polls showed about 60% Liberal, over 30% conservative and a little under 10% socialist. I was really happy when during the election a couple of events fired that I could use to bring a little more socialist spirit into the peoples minds. After that I had a look at the partys and noticed that the socialists where listed as a major party.
"Alright, this time the reds will reach the 20% mark!"
A few weeks later: *great jubilation* "Partido Federalista will now govern our great nation!"
Latest polls: Liberal over 65%, Conservative over 29%, Socialist at a devastating 6%

o.o

Personally the Anarcho-Liberals are my favourite party, though it really depends on what country you are.

What voting rights do you have? You can change those to dramatically change the poll results.

When I play a European Nation and bring the Anarcho-Liberals into power the government usually turns into a presidential dictatorship. Even though it's just a game I can't make my people suffer from that type of government. ;) Sometimes I think I'm too honest to be successful...

And right now (the year is 1874 btw) I'm running on universal suffrage.

That's... odd. How come so many are liberal? Anyway, apparently your people don't want to be taxed/tariffed so hard.

The upside is that with a liberal party, you usually need less money because your capi's will build for you more. You could try changing the voting rights to landed, but I wouldn't know how you'd do that if you're not a monarchy. (Maybe let reactionaries take over your country?)

It's probably because I researched Freedom of Trade in the 60s. So the Liberals are trying really hard to catch up now. I don't know it's weird though.
And the big problem is: I can't even lower the taxes of the wealthy class so I could encourage the capitalists to build factories and railroads ect. because my income would hardly be in the + anymore. But probably I should try it anyways until at least my infrastructure improved.

I have no problem keeping the liberals in check as Venezuala. Don't pay for crime , military or social spending. do pay for education and improve your economy

Also manipulate elections by raising and lowering taxes or promoting demoting pops

If you want the socialists to win the election, try raising poor taxes to 100% one or two months before the election.
