I was referring to those games that exagerate the size and appearance of everything, that always look what's cool. WoW is the finest example. This game is a follower of that doctrine.

I don't see anything closely resembling WoW models style in this game.

This game presents a realistic approach where everything is balanced to enhance realism (colors, shapes, scale, textures) while WoW presents a very cartoony look to its world.

No offense, but I think you're seriously overstating the matter. Giving some units gold colored helmets is hardly a huge exageration of anything.

I said ten times that the horns are not the only problem. Templars look like ogres in plate armor in the concept art, swords are oversized in the screenshots, horses wear imaginary armour, the entire concept of armours is totally made up...

This is how the game should look like (more or less, the Third Crusade happens at the end of the XIIth Century and those images, from the Maciejowski Bible, were made in the mid-XIIIth Century):

I'm aware that you don't mind inaccuracy in this game, but don't criticize me for saying that it's highly inaccurate, and don't tell me that "I'm overstating the matter", because I'm not. I happen to be very interested in Medieval warfare, especially during the XIIIth Century, so I can tell when a game is accurate and when is intentionally not.

I don't think it's historically correct to base it on paintings from a bible...

Why? Because it's on a bible?

Is there something suspicious about the paintings, that makes you think "This paintings are not depicting the actual warfare of the XIIIth Century"? Because the paintings are illustrating wars between Jews and Philisteans, between king David and Saul... and yet the painters did it as if it was his time.

It's like those paintings of Alexander the Great from the XVIth Century, where Alexander is wearing plate armour. It's not a good way to study Alexander's military outfit, but it's great to see good XVIth Century armour.

I think the differences of this game defines it and seperates it from the rst.

If you want games that stick to the boring art, go play Medieval II: Total War (it's a fairlygood game, even get a couple of the mods for it). Just stop whning that this game isn't a 100% representation of historical facts. It's annoyng.

They have a vison, let them make a game to it. We don't care if you have an anuerism each time you see something that isn't accurate.

And no, this games art has nothing in common wth WoW, besides the fact that it's on PC.

M2TW it's horrible in historical accuracity, it's a collection of topics and made-up things to pretend that they did a lot of research, when they didn't. Still, I played it for a long time because the accuracity, while low, was still at some point accuracity.

And if Medieval art seems boring to you, well... pity you, you have less in this world to wonder with.

I'm not gonna stop them. I just complain. Let me complain in peace. I don't care if you have an aneurism each time I complain because something isn't accurate.

As you can see, I can get rude too.

You people just understant what you want, isn't it? I said the aspect and exaggeration of weapons and armours is like what they do with visual style in WoW, nothing else. I know that the two games have noting in common.

I don't base this on much, but the saracens.... didn't have gold plated armor. They had rags and chainmail. The horns bother me also. By the way, will the units have varied soldiers? I'm a fan of mtw2, and I especially liked how all the units had 2-3 variants on the uniform within an individual unit. If this game had that it would rather nice. Btw, doesn't it kind of bother you when two forumgoers get all hissy and have a catfight? It's hilarious!

I'm looking forward to this one, especially because the release date is my birthday :p. Great preview Monnikje!

I'm a little histroy geek myself and yes the golden armor and horns bothers me a little but if it's a good game i'll definitely going to get it no matter how unhistorical it is.

that screenshot doesn't have much of a WoW feel to it. Looks more like oblivion.
The saracens look kinda like Daedra

I looked at the pic and thought "that doesnt look like Total War, it looks like King Arthur: The Longest And Most Genre Specifically Sub-Titled Game In History". Lo and behold it is by Neocore! But King Arthur:TLAMGSSGIH was hot and had some awesome ideas, if they actually ballance this one it could be brilliant.

As for the historicity of it, in King Arthur they made the saxons Christain and the Romano-British Pagan which isn't so much poorly researched as downright offensive to half the idea of the Arthur myth, but they did it with such style and panache that you could buy their take on the period. Obviously with something that is 95% legendary to begin with you get a bit more leeway, but give 'em some leeway and see what happens. If you really don't like the idea of a game set in a historical period that isn't historical Cesar then stop following it, it's an easy solution :D

I don't know if you already watched the new trailer, but you should, almost all the way in-game. The game looks amazing, pre-order it already :) And I as well Blastaz, won't care about small details like horns on helmets. Come on guys :)

Trailer - http://www.youtube.com/user/Paradoxplaza?blend=2&ob=1#p/u/1/l5uGOUQw6Bw

I really hope I misunderstood this, but I see several parts of that trailer where it seems... fantasy-like. For example, it says something about elixirs and potions? I really hope that's just something that helps morale(Placebo-effect), but I got REALLY scared when I saw that choosing the HRE makes Heroes cast their SPELLS faster. This, I'm a bit more sure that I misunderstood, as they seem to have abilities, but I'm still very scared for this trailer. All I hope for is that Paradox doesn't have a bias for the Crusaders, although I guess that is too much too hope for when you look at EU and CK.

 I really, REALLY, hope that there will be not any kind of spells. Potions and elixirs, well if they are presented in "realistic" way I can accept that but spells! No way I'm putting money to this game if Holy Roman Empire knights casts a giant fire balls against the saracens. There are already enogh fantasy strategy games but no good crusade strategy games.

Where did it say about elixirs and potions ?

When choosing HRE and going to general upgrades, there were armour, and other advancemnt for your armies, not spells. That is what I think. I may be wrong

In the trailer you see the "player" adding elixirs and potions to the unit's gear. As for spells, you can actually see what appears to be fireballs being launched.
Neocore doesn't make historical games, it makes games that are in a historical period, then adds magic.

The only criticism i have of the game from what i have seen so far is the following.

The trubuchets (Siege weapons) do smash explosion damage and throw men into the air. I hope they make a feature where we can turn off the splash on siege weapons.
