AOD, Darkest Hour, Iron Cross, there are 2 stand-alone games and 1 expansion based on HOI2.

Will there be some new EU2 based games like FTG? There are still a lot of people love EU2/FTG.:p

Just a nitpick, bu Iron Cross is an expansion, it is not a stand-alone game. You will either need HoI2DD:A or AoD or DH to play it. :)

OK, it makes 2 stand-alone games based on HoI2 and 1 expansion based on HoI2. :p

Nevertheless, it's 3 against 1 FtG.

3 > 1.

;)

I'd be surprised. EUII is a ten year old game and most of its fans have migrated to either the sequel or FTG. I really don't see who would buy another EUII expansion/spin-off. That the sales for FTG were not exactly stellar doesn't exactly help

I'm still waiting for a new Vicky and CK on Europa Engine
There was definitely a Vicky project underway with OHgamer at the helm, but its been a long time since I heard anything about that. It may well have been quietly dropped

there are still a lot of people play eu2/ftg, becoz it's classic and much different from eu3. such as more historical.

No there's not. Sorry but the reality is that, when compared to EUIII or HoI, very few people are playing FTG or EUII. Sales of the former were disappointing and as for the original... well just take a look at that forum

EUII is a classic but, like all games, it has a life cycle. You may feel that it is better than its sequel (or "more historical") but this is not something that is borne out by player numbers. And when it comes to making expansions/spin-offs, only the latter is of any real importance

though eu2 series is old, it's not same style as eu3, when u playing it, u get much different feeling from eu3. it is not replaceable until now. compare to eu3, eu3 is more like a sandbox game, whatever u choose a nation, u may get the same feeling. so eu2/ftg still has a lot of fans love it. the forum is not much active becoz it has been talked almost 10 years. u can still found a lot of diehard fans launch some big mp games in mp subforum. and some mod being upgrade and create. and due to people like new things and more people like ww2, the sales result compare to eu3/hoi is not good.

after "License the Europa Engine", i hope some day we can see more eu2 based games like ftg.

sorry for my bad english and my rude, i just wanna say is eu2 series still have value and space to become more perfect game even the people more like eu3/hoi.becoz they are much different feeling to players. can not simply compared:)

Yes, I get this. They are (obviously) two different games. Which does not change the reality that very few people play EUII or FTG. Any expansion/spin-off would be aimed at a tiny market and, as we saw with FTG, there are just not that many people willing to spend money on rehashed versions of a ten year old game

Really, some people have to accept that EUII has come to (or passed) the end of its life cycle. We are very unlikely to see a new, P'dox or third party, version commercially released any time soon. Let it go

The forum is empty because very few people are playing EUII any more. The flow of new fans has slowed to a tiny trickle. That a number of "diehards" continue to play MP is entirely irrelevant - who would market a game to just a dozen or so potential customers?

and due to people like new things and more people like ww2, the sales result compare to eu3/hoi is not good.
Whatever the reasons (hint: a decade passed) the fact is that EUII no longer has a customer base to market expansions/spin-offs to. There's no point trying to hide from this fact by attaching qualifiers to every comparison. EUIII and HoI have the numbers to support these expansions (although I do wonder about three releases for HoI) while EUII does not. Period

The best solution would be for P'dox to simply release the Europa engine as open-source. That way the diehard fans can mod the game to their own delight while remaining entirely unconcerned about market realities
