Hi,

do I need any manual DoWs to get into war with historical enemies? I played Germany before, DoWed manually early and it screwed up the whole game.

So should I rely on event wars?

EDIT: I know there is Barbarossa event in 41. Are there similar events for Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Denmark, Norway, Yugoslavia?

Hi

Yes, exists events to declare the war to all these countries

Are there alternative event paths if, for example, Yugoslavia doesn't succumb to an anti-axis coup? i.e. they remain in the axis and germany doesn't declare war? Are there options to start war with the USSR early if such an event occurs, or if you're already prepared for invasion (e.g. after a successful operation sealion)?

I think you should better follow the historical path. Some nasty things can happen if you don't. I doubt there are many multiple alternative branches of events based on the actual game development.

Shame. As much as I enjoy the predetermined events and the like, it's nice to have a little variety occationally.

even when i follow historical events, something always never fires... for example the invasion of france in one game, the invasion of denmark norway in the other...

Too bad. I should save more often from now then.

what difference does that really make?

I dont like to reload and go through doing the same thing of combining divisions, assigning leaders, positioning troops and researching techs just for the same thing to happen again...

i spend too much time organising my land army and my airforce. too much effort is spent to just reload...

Hmm, I dont think all the DoW events are working per historical. I know for sure that playing Germany I got the pre-invasion Barbarossa event but never did get the invasion DoW on June 22nd. I waited till end of July and nothing, August nothing, so I reloaded game and DoW USSR myself. I did not see the Yugoslavia event either in 1941 and Italy declared war on Greece earlier then normal.

So I will say for fact that the events for certain countries did not come per historical dates or times and I did nothing to provoke a different situation.

Plus I noticed that Finland and USSR never ended their Winter War as I invaded USSR for Operation Barbarossa. This really took away from my desire to see the event unfold but maybe a dev can explain why this happened? I will say that the event for Low Countries and France caught me off guard as I was still massing troops for the invasion but overall was rather funny to see them attack me first.

Now I see that I will probably need to reload for at least a few times. I need to do this because max AI cheating settings is harsh and I wouldn't like to start a new 33 scenario! Like the last time - Barbarossa fails event which fired 2 months later than I DoWed the SU in July 40. Victorious game turned to hell without any logical justification.

Ouch, in my game I did no cheating at all I am playing Normal/Aggressive just to see how the game unfolds, event wise mainly here. Other then that the AI has been rather busy in 1942 and 1943 trying to assault areas of Spain (which I annexed) and areas in West Africa. After I saw Italy (AI) take darn near all of Africa they got greedy and went to Asia, then they lost all of Africa to UK which sent mega troops and I had to quickly divert about 40 units from the East Front after USSR surrendered in 1942 to save the Suez Canal from falling into Allies hands, thus I took all of East and South Africa back and left full Infantry Divisions on every coastal invasion spot. No crazy attacks yet, though the AI is trying hard to take Portugal and Morocco. I also have complete Air Control over Britain thanks to having all my Axis partners build Air Force and building a massive fighter/interceptor fleet (22/20) and just started building transports and researching Paratroopers now to hopefully invade England.

Game is really fun atm so hats off to IC devs!

Must be variable because it fired on 3 June for me - I wasn't ready so had to decline the opportunity!

Playing AoD + IC Rev. 2.

Okay, so for the first time in my life USSR does not agree with the Molotovpact and I took Poland without their blessing. Happened even though I was going to play historic. Should I wait for 1941 or just attack right away? France and the Allies are not doing anything. Perhaps I'll make myself a two front war?

Playing ARm + IC Rev. 2.

I also had USSR not agree with Molotovpact. I reloaded and then they agreed.

DOW on LUX, HOL, and BEL has always fired, however it fires around March 30th, a little early for me. My army was not ready to attack but I accepted anyway. I did not get a breakthrough so it is hard fighting, still fighting on the French border. Good battles.
