Hey Guys, i recently lost my king due to old age and his infant son took over as they do, and i lost all my prestige piety and money(I'm assuming that's normal). I then decided to attack Sicily and launched my invasion, this went well and was successful, and i found out something weird about my expenditure.

I wasn't losing any money at the end of each month as i was meant to to pay for my armies, and after i had to pay out a lump sum if 412.64, it left me in negative numbers, but the next day it was back to 0. So i had gained 412.64 in one day, with my monthly income at -24.

After the war, i started gaining money, and it built on it's self as it did with my adult king. Can anyone explain why i don't have to pay my armies as an infant king?

And also, how far/quickly should i be expanding as Apulla, can someone give me some guide lines please :)

Thanks

Coupla points:

1) Somehow you got tagged as AI. That explains the money resetting as 0. Close the game. Reload. It should fix the problem. AFAIK it has nothing to do with the infant son. The game resets AI balance every month (i think) to 0, to account for the fact that they suck at finances.

2) Also, when your infant son took over, he should have inherited all the money from your original king. I am not sure if he didin't or maybe you missed it. If the old King had a negative balance and you were accidentally tagged as AI, then that would explain your new King having 0 income. But if your old King had a positive balance, and after his death, his infant son had 0 balance, then it may be a bug.

Short anwer: as far as your reputation can stand it. As you probably know, everytime you gain new territory, you take a reputation/"bad boy"-hit, which will make your vassals more likely to be disloyal, and, ultimately, possibly rebel against you. Go Moslem/Pagan-bashing as often as you can, if your finances can handle it, and you don't have any immediate threats against you - but watch your vassals loyalty; if the total sum of the plusses and minuses to loyalty go negative, you need to slow down your expansion. But apart from that: rock on! Deus Vult!

I really hate it when your vassals revolt, they get in the way of me taking more land. So do you not lose and reputation if you attack arabs? That would be sensible i suppose

It depends on which version of the game you play. If you play just CK then you don't get a bad reputation for fighting Muslims and conquering their lands. If you have the expansion Deus Vult you will.

It would, it does indeed not make any sense at all that your christian vassals get unhappy after you go kick some heathen butt - the idea, I assume, is that it represents you growing in power, and thus people starting to "worry". That, and the game would be too easy, if you could just conquer the whole heathen world, without any repercussions - for most of the skilled players, they'd be able to do that way too easily, if this mechanism wasn't in place.
But I agree with you - I too see it as a flaw in the game, and we're absolutely not the only ones believing that to be the case.

Is there a MOD out in relation to this, which will allow us to take land without the loyalty loss? If not the MODers have missed a trick, as that would be one I downloaded in an instant.

No, there is no such mod.

So then I'm guessing this infamy gain for fighting heathens is hardcoded? Or can we change it ourselves in a text file somewhere?

I like to rationalize it as the penalty of expending your energies as a sort of Richard the Lionheart on steroids, bashing heathens day and night, while your hearth and home goes to rack and ruin. If my liege lord was off doing that, even as a loyal vassal I'd feel inclined to see what I could snitch in his absence!
