So what is Paradox main goal? To push out as many games as possible in a year or to make the ones already released work? Me, personally, don´t like this Microsoft approach to releasing games and now, as far as I can tell, there are no news about patches to the important games, the flagships of Paradox. Neither HOI3 nor Victoria is working smoothly and that should be fixed before moving on to, for example Pride of nations.
I would say that Paradox has a understanding and loyal costumer base, but, at least for me, the patients is running thin.

you know that paradox has more then one development team?
hoi3 and victoria are getting new patches at the moment. what do you want more?
a patch does not produce money only new games do...

pride of nations is not even directly developed by paradox. it is a AGEOD game.

Any relationship - be it business, personal or social - will only prosper if it is good for both parties. That means Paradox has to provide products that interest people. This also means that we as consumers have to respect that there is no such thing as a free lunch. In order for Paradox to remain in business they need a stream of income and this means from you - not someone else. If you are not willing to pay then you are not a good customer.

In regard to 'flawed games'. Any product that is designed by humans, manufactured by humans and maintained by human will have flaws. To have flaws is the human condition. The obligation a good game developer has is to address those flaws as they become apparent. This process is an expense with no direct resulting income. The only good for Paradox in resolving these flaws is 'goodwill'. That goodwill is the intent of their customers to purchase future games and products.

As a business person who wrestles with these issues in a vastly different business environment I have found that you can't make every person happy. Some people are not realistic in their expectations. I find Paradox makes alterations to their product as rapidly as is practical. They also make their code available to wonderful people who also improve and make their product more interesting. If you are reasonable and understand the balence Paradox must make between income and expense it becomes obvious to me that they do a marvelous job.

This post is entirely correct.

I find that paradox supports its games with patches and expansions long after other game companies have moved on. That's why I've been here for almost 9 years.

And...?
Yes, I´m sure they are making patches, but I´m getting tired fo half finished games and being charged for things that barely makes the game playable. I want what I paid for, if I buy a car, I don´t want to pay extra for the wheels... And then wait two months.

I have played almost every game they released and now I am gettin tired...
And to the rest of you, way to add somthing to the discussion... :)

What free lunch are you babling about? I paid for this games, MAKE THEM WORK... And I did pay for them, would I be upset otherwise? If they gave them away, I wouldn´t mind. I´m happy, they all show potential, but they are in no way finished products... And as a business person, I am sure you are aware of these simple facts.

you have the choice: a good game with patches or no game at all! what do you prefer?

edit: a triple post? why not simply use the edit button...

Pride of Nations is developed by AGEOD/Paradox France and has nothing to do with what we here in Stockholm work on. Victoria has received two patches, and HOI3 both patches (1.4) and an expansion + patch (2.03c beta).

adding to that semper fi and victoria 2 are getting new patches while we discuss...
i dont understand him he asks for something he knows he will get.

So you're just trolling right? First you complain we're making new games instead of patching old ones:

Then once you're told both HoI3 and V2 are being patched right now and we're not even making PoN directly suddenly you don't care about patches?
And...?

Bad troll trolls badly.
