I know but i'm sending 1 down to Narbonensis to help destroy the rebels. We need to get control of this province as fast as possible.
They are generating 0 income atm.
 
Just dropping by to remind everyone, that we stil ned votes pro/con Macedonia and the Censor`s proposal, although we still have 18 hours.

I am here tell cast my votes for the following matters, I vote we renew the pact with Macedonia, and that we hold off on holding a Triumph for Tribune Lentulus as the war in Gaul is not over, all of the Tribunes who have held commands during the war should come home and we shall have a great Triumph when the war is won.

Consul Aquila´s orders are good but I would add an envoy to Transalpine Gaul in order to convince them to abandon Carthage and to prive them that Carthage financed Gauls while she has NAP with us. Carthage violated her NAP with Numidia by invading there. The Transalpine Senate should realize that Carthage will be a burden to their nation if Carthage continues her reckless expansionism. Regard that the Senate of Massilia should consider that the power of Rome is increasing and it would be a wise move to befriend with Rome and abandon Carthage.(-25)

I am going to Egypt to improve relations between the Roman Republic and Egypt in order to contain those Carthagineans. We can tell Egyptians that in the future it would be probable that Carthage will make an alliance between Carthage and the Seleucids and they would attack Egypt from both sides. Egypt has enemies and she needs allies like Rome. I will also give gifts to the Egyptian nobility from my assets worth of 100 denaari to make them understand that Rome can be a valuable ally and that Carthage may be a serious threat to Egypt in the future. How can you trust a nation which violates NAP and invades the other party of that NAP?

I really think most powers have noticed that Carthage is busily annexing a nation she had a NAP with, and will act accordingly in the future.

I also agree that it's best to wait until major combat operations are over in Gaul. Lentulus might have other opportunities to shine at the helm of our troops, so restricting the triumph to his recent past actions in Gaul might turn unfair.

The suggestion that I might be granted a Triumph is a great honor. I will, as my ethos dictates, abstain from voting in this matter; However, I will note that while humility is a virtue the realities of our situation dictate that such humility may be counterproductive in this particular case. The people of Latium are unhappy. Celebrating a Triumph may be just what they need to raise their spirits and prevent the populares from turning against us any further.

If humility stands in the way of doing what is best for our nation such humility becomes false. I must put aside my own personal misgivings on this matter - surely, every single one of our soldiers who fought and bled on Gaulish battlefields deserves this honor at least as much as me, if not more - and ask the Senate to weigh the interests of the nation carefully.

Regarding the triumph, the populace will see hubris in celebrating a war that is not won yet, tempting the gods against us. And I agree, it's not only a matter of humility before our people, but it is a matter of humility in the eyes of the Gods. As a Pontifex and as a roman citizen, I cannot in good conscience allow it.

As for the people, if in the same semester as more troops are being levied from nearby Campania to fight in Gaul, we host a triumph, the people will think quite badly of our Tribunes. And it's completely against Roman tradition, too.

I hope my fellow Senators agree with me.

That is a very valid concern, Senator. However, something needs to be done concerning the situation in Latium. And soon.

Increasing our relations with Egypt in indeed a smart move.

I would also hold back on the celebrations untill the war is over. But i won't forget our great generals even if the war doens't end as fast as i hoped.

Just wondering... did the Consuls send another general in Belgica? Otherwise, we'll be stuck with a mediocre tribune.

Hello people. Long time no see. Alright, birthday is over, time to go to work again (and, to be perfectly frank, I desperately needed a short break). I`ll update today and the Deadline will be Saturday.
