Since Asia is finally getting some love from PI, was wondering if in the vein of the reunification of Japan, they were gonna give some thought to the reunification of China post-Han empire.

A Three Kingdoms game would be awesome. Partially because it is one of my areas of scholar expertise. And the Three Kingdoms era in itself is extremely focussed on characters. Though a vastly different system will have to be made as the vast majority of known people were not rulers or heir-apparents, but Generals, Strategists, Scholars, Warriors et al.

If you could actually play as an officer/courtier in Three Kingdoms, then yes, it would make a lot of sense. Limiting to ruling families would suck.

But It would have to be another game entirely because the 3 kingdoms period in china is around 200 AD, and Sengoku Jidai is around 1500. I doubt PI would make such a large time span into a game, so it could happen but would be an independent expansion, no relation, or another game entirely.

Only if you buy several copies of Sengoku and CK2.

Most probably an expansion would deal with the Imjin war and trade with China.

I would *love* to see Paradox do a Three Kingdoms game. It was what I had my fingers crossed for when this was announced, although I'm far from disappointed with Sengoku. But China 200 CE isn't Japan 1467 CE, and it'd be better as its own game than in an expansion.

This, precisely for the same reasons. Since Koei abandoned Three Kingdoms, Paradox definitely should snatch the crown from them.

Not sure an expansion would work, but a different game would be awesome.

If Sengoku does well, then its a chance we may one day do such a game.

I am looking forward to being to guy to start a "Is this Three Kingdoms?" post in every new forum :p
Seriously though; Sounds good.

Asia is a region were paradox types of strategy games could really work well so let's hope this is successful and more titles will follow :)

If I hadn't been already determined to buy Sengoku on release day, this would have definitely convinced me :D

They could start a new franchise - Asia:Universalis. AU1 Would be Sengoku, AU2 would deal with China/Korea/SE Asia, and AU3 would feature a revamped map, a tactical battle mode, and would cover all of Asia from Anatolia to the Pacific Islands.

id hate it if paradox games featured tactical battles. then you wouldnt be able to ignore war like you can now itd be a nuisance and slow the game down if you had to be involved in every battle.

Surely India or Persia or Genghiskhancentralasia or something would be a better place for a future game than China, as there have been plenty strategy games set in China but as far as i know none set in any of those

A Chinese Warring States game

Won't such a game be banned by Chinese commies for depicting several separate states in China? I think something like that happened to HoI2 and that was not even primarily about China.

I doubt that. There is a difference between Sanguo (Three Kingdoms) or the Zhanguo era and the warlords era of the 20th century. Three Kingdoms is maybe one of the most famous and beloved periods in Chinese history - to the point where should you ever mention it in conversation with a Chinese friend, you WILL be asked about your favourite character 90% of the time (speaking from experience, mileage may vary). There's also a pretty successful trading card game making the rounds right now, I've seen kids play it on the streets and it being sold in every other store around Wuhan when I lived there.
