So basically I am playing as Rus and a few of my Persian holdings have been inherited my a Muslim Duke, this annoys me because I don't get to see the Brown Orthodox religion spread through the world in my religious map. The same also siginificantly applies to Catholics as I recently annexed the whole kingdom of Bohemia, leaving me with a ton of Catholic vassals

Vassals have a chance to convert into their liege's religion, so don't be desperate.

Indeed. There are events for vassals to switch to their liege's religion. And over the longer term, ecclesiastical types get converted when they finish their education.

if you have CK1, the Catholic vassals will probably be a bit more annoying. When they rebel you risk reputation taking them back. Muslims and pagans are easier to sort out. (Dunno how it is in DV.)

It's much more annoying in DV, for you have to do the same Sue For Peace for the Muslims, and you don't take their provinces instantly.

Well it was introduced for game-balancing reasons. It was too easy to make huge, rapid sweeps through infidels' lands in CK. I like the "new" way it is working. Also the infidels don't take your provinces immediately either. So it is kinda the same for both sides.

That is fair, I remember the days when I took the whole of Persia and Southern Russia just by declaring war on the Il-Khanate(4 times). Good times :D
