I guess a simulataneous conflict in the Pacific would also be a good way of getting around a definite problem with this game: the Russian Fleet's lack of credibility as an adversary.

Even presuming a return to high economic growth in Russia, the Russian military is not likely to receive more than about 100 billion USD at today's prices, most of which will go to the army. The navy will likely only have at most 2-3 Kuznetsov-class carriers, 4 Mistrals, 4 Kirov-class battlecruisers, 10-15 nuclear-powered attack submarines, and 20 or so destroyers and frigates.

This means a Russian Northern Fleet of maybe 1 Kuznetsov, 2 Mistrals, 2 Kirovs, 5-7 attack submarines, 10 destroyers/frigates. The Russian Airforce and Russian Naval Aviation would probably have something like 70 or so TU22M's, 20 or so TU160's and 200 or so fighter/bombers.

By comparison, the UK Royal Navy will probably have 2 Queen Elizabeth class carriers, 1 assault carrier, 6 Type 45 destroyers, 8 attack submarines and maybe 20 or so Type 26 Frigates. The RAF will have 200 or so multi-role fighter aircraft to back this up. And the US Nay will be much stronger still with 10+ carrier battle-groups. Unless the western powers are distracted elsewhere, it appears they would easily beat the Russians.
You missing one singe very important fact. Russia happens to be situation almost on top off the arctic. Neither USA nor UK is.

This means Russia can count on massive support from landbased bombers and airplanes while NATO forces should be limited to a very small airbase in northern Norway to operate from or vulnerable air refuleing not applicable on large scale.

To put it short, Russia doesn't need any Carriers to fight a conflict in the Arctics, they can reach it with thousands of airplanes based on land. This means that for each Carrier the Nato is bringing Russia only needs 50 of their thousands of land based airplanes to match... Since the Russian Airforce today have 2000 active fighters (and thousands more in reserve) and are rearming I don't see you can possibly estimate their strength to 100 fighter/bombers in 2030... (Subtracting 100 for their Navy).

Hell we in Sweden even have more then 100 fighters today!

Just in case you didn't know, the Kuznetsov is scheduled for a refit in 2012 which will increase it's airwing by removing the Shipwreck missiles and improve it's power plant.

Hear about their rearmament? He he. ;) By 2030 I'd say a Northern Fleet of 1 Kuznetsov, 2 Kirovs, 2 Mistrals, 15 or so subs, and 30-40 destroyers and frigates. This, coupled with Tu-22s and Tu-95s, makes for an extremely effective maritime fighting force. :D And, if the fighting was mainly in the Arctic, they could transfer ships from their Pacific Fleet. Maybe then 4 Kirovs and 50 destroyers and frigates.

I noticed another problem with the Kirov class Pyotr Velikiy 3d model. The Pyotr's current number is 099, not 183. I believe the number is wrong on the new box cover as well. ;)
