did anyone finish the first task "make do without the metro" in this scenario of vienna goes green. can anyone tell how they complete the task. thanks

i did that i demolish both line 1 and line 2 but still no luck and i built a bis line and tram line.
Actually you just have to delete, not just close, that line 1 and then build some other line, you don't need to demolish anything. After the mission gets checked as complete you can put up a new metro line.
I cannot complete the "green prize" task, in which you must not have any vehicle with condition under 70%. I sold all my vehicles and bought new ones, but id didn't work. Can anyone give any help?
Are you sure you replaced all of them? The roster screen only displays one type of vehicle at a time. Go through the rosters for all types of vehicles and check and see if any are missing (Buses, Trams, Metro, Choppers, Waterbus)
I found that mission bizarre. You start off with the metro, which runs on electricity, and then you want to go green? You can't get any greener (aside from making sure the power comes from hydro, nuclear, solar etc)!
thanks a lot! I hadn't checked all the rosters and I didn't notice that two helicopters weren't sold.
I missed task 1 "make do without the metro" and never could complete it anymore, now I've played this scenario for ages and my cities is full of lines, but still not finishing the scenario. all other tasks are done, just except task 1 which I have no chance to do it. shall I restart the scenario or keep waiting ?

I'm having the same problem and just deleting the line and create a new line does not complete the task.
I have tried clearing everything, even the helicopters and started from fresh but the task is still not complete. Any ideas what I could try now?
UPDATE:
Ahh - i was stupid. The problem is that the short description in the task doesn't say that it HAS to be a bus or tram line that is the new line. It's only in the dialog.

Even though Evilfish committed thread necromancy, I have to chime in and say that I've had the same problem. Despite removing both metro lines and physically bulldozing the entire metro infrastructure, the task never "completes" for me.
That's the way the world is
In actuality electricity generation for transportation is usually more green than the same gas engines used for transportation because electric motors have a 90%+ efficiency and ICE have an efficiency that often times can't hit 50%.
But the world seems to like to villify that.
For all people (like I was) that are stuck on this first task of Vienna goes green: You have to start over the scenario if the first task isn't complete. You can do all the tasks but it won't complete the scenario. I know it's kinda thread necromancy, but I think a lot of players struggle with this task.
So here's a step by step description on how I completed this first task:
- Pause the game after you get the first assignment
- Take off the train from metro line 1 and sell it.
- Delete metro line 1 in the metro lines menu. DO NOT delete any of the infrastructure like the stations yet. You can do that after the task completes and it messes with the following steps below, as far as I have been able to determine. So leave the stuff in the ground for now.
- Build a busstop on the road right next to the southern station. Make sure its right next to it or as close as possible.
- Build two busstops at the middle station, one right below (so south of) the metro station going one way, and one on the other road going the other (so you have busstops opposite one another). Make sure these are as close to the metro station as possible, of course.
- Build one busstation on the eastern island where both metro line 1 (when it still existed) and metro line 2 (still in operation) terminate. Again, next to the metrostation, right on top of it.
- Now creat a busline that goes from the south busstop to the first 'middle' busstop, then to the east busstop, then to the second 'middle' busstop and then terminating in a loop on the south busstop.
- Buy the cleanest bus possible. I took the Toyoka bus because it was very clean (ratio passengers to fuel consumption) and pretty cheap to just complete the task. Add it to the line.
- Open the line, press play, and ding... you're done.
If you want to actually see how this all works, I am also putting a video up on Youtube (lordsofthegreenleaf) with my next uploads, where I demonstrate the above. My Let's Play was actually hampered by the first task not triggering. It's been one of the few 'gripes' I have had with this game so far, so I felt like sharing how I got over it.
