I am not a non-believer.

You can trust me. I am a Pastor.

I was going to get on here and accuse randakar of spreading misinformation, particularly on the 4 packs issue.

My thinking was this: first time around the packs were named "atheist" and "satanist". After the mix-up our GM went ahead and named the packs "schismatic" and "infidels" instead. So two packs both times but with different names.

randakar, not being a wolf the first time, but being a wolf the second time, decided to come forward with "anonymous" information about pack names and setup, but said the names that were handed out this time, and not necessarily the first time.

Of course then J. Pass comes ahead and says this:

I, the Ecumenical Patriarch, was a schismatic wolf the first time around. I wondered at the time if my pack name was intentional.

And now I don't get to accuse randakar of spreading any misinformation :(

Seeing as I got plain vanilla nothingness both times around ( ) I'm going to have to sit back and let the people who were wolves the first time figure things out for themselves.

joeb, that is wrong. I can vouch for the info given. I happened to be wolfy in Schismatic and culty in Infidel. That I can vouch for. The other, I don't know, but the name do sound like correct.

EDIT: Noticed that you withdrew your allegations in the same post.

Crovax much? ;)

You can't be both a wolf and a cultist, so I think he just slipped up and told us his role in this version of the game.

Actually, Lurken was my first PM contact. And he said much the same thing then - that he was probably the cause of the second round of PM's, since he got included in two packs.

I personally would have let it run out as a twist to see what would happen in the end. Would Lurken sell out one pack to make the other stronger quickly? Play both sides and eventually sell out the other for the one that was stronger at the time?

After all he could pull the perfect seer, by "Scanning several wolfs in a row before he approached someone. Lynch two of his claimed wolfs and he is a solid seer that can then cover for his packmates. At least until he gets hunted.

Actually, when I got those PMs, I thought it was planned. That all packs had atleast one double so to say. Or that I just was SPEESUL.

And no, believe me, I ain't no baddie no more. Though it would have been fun, especially if that setup would have remained.

And Yoshy...RLY, how would I be able to slip up on my current role(s) if I claimed something that shouldn't be able to happen, eg. be a wolfy and a culty in two seperate packs?

That very well could be the twist in this game.

Quit lying Randy. You are just covering up for your packmate.

*patpat*
Ain't I always?
So what were you in your previous incarnation? Brutal hunter GA doctor? :p

Did you read WD's guide on how to set up a decent game, EL? Making packs paranoid about their packmates (or cultists) is a big no no in werewolf.

Aye. Frankly, the baddies will be nervous plenty enough knowing that there are likely three other packs out there gunning for them.

On the other hand, the JL won't feel very safe either...
In fact, with 4 packs the chances of those packs steering the lynch towards goodies on the first few days or so are pretty high.

So, a challenge, then.

It happened with so much frequency at one point... I know what WD's guide says, but a lot of "fun twists" have been thrown into the big game that throw standards out the window.

4 packs is also a big no no in WD's guide. 2 packs is optimal and 1 or 3 are bad but OK every once in a while. 4 packs means you have to balance so the goodies have a chance, which means plain old vanilla villagers are going to be the most boring role in the world, with no access to any information.

I hate games that have more than 2 packs, unless it's a very very large game, (40 or more is when I think 3 packs is acceptable).

Wouldn't that assume every pack knew of each other? With the number of packs in this game I would expect wolves to be lynched quite often.

I was hearbroken when he deprived me of my first role. I was a brutal spy wolf hunter lover. Lover was not in the rules but he gave it to me. And EURO. EURO and I would have won the game as lovers and it would have been epic.

Now I am only the blessed cursed hunter Seer witness with a laser beam on my head. Totally insignificant.

Damn you Reis.

Didn't stop me.
At the time I don't think that was the general opinion and anyway WD's GM thread hadn't gotten round to game balance.

Yeah, unless you really know what you are doing you should stick to a standard setup with a twist or two, especially if you haven't hosted a big game before. It remains to be seen if reis91 knows what he is doing but we shouldn't start complaining even before night 0, should we? ;)
