Who commands intelligence/espionage teams? I want to be the great spymaster of the Terran Empire!

Well seeing as that their transport actually leaves the direct vicinity of their location right after dropping them down, I would think the natives? :p

;edit; or maybe they have radios powerful enough so they can relay information through any ships that happen to be nearby to earth? Who knows!
In any case I vote Verenti for Master of Covert Ops!

There is a spaceship module that you can research which allows you to take (alien) wrecks on board for tech analysis. Good to have around if you win a space battle and control the field afterwards.

In the distant future, this might be a part of the awacs design for instance.

The HQ staff of Fleet Ops has a Director of Naval Intelligence position... currently held by a non-player Officer. Did you want that position?

I am intrigued. Reminds me a tiny bit of the old Amiga game Imperium by EA (minus the Nostrum to prolong life so it seems). But this offers more depth and is alot more complex from the looks (well, text) of it.

Will definately follow this AAR. And if i might add, it would be an honor to have a Officer or Politician renamed after me.

Awesome AAR, very interesting.
I'd like to be personified too, a bureaucrat or a scientist would be nice for me.

So far it seems that the only thing this game still misses is some sort of ship designing utility like you could find in Spores. The technical data are great, but something visual would have been even better.

Emu how did you get those Fuel Harvester modules?

I don't actually recall what the prerequisite tech is... it must be very early in the tree, though, because I started the game with them (after spending my at-start research points, of course).

Just research everything that costs less than 8k and you're sure to stumble across it. It should be either in "Construction" or in "Power".

Based on this AAR, I've downloaded the game and taken it for a spin. I keep getting a lot of null errors when taking long time increments, though, as well as a large number of missing image errors every time I try to go to the Galactic Map. It seems like a really interesting game, though, and I'll definitely be keeping an eye on it. I'd love to sign on as Elise Mueller, a scientist or intel officer, if you've a slot free.

Oddly enough, the only time I get errors is when I click on the word "Asteroids" in the left side-bar without first "unfolding" the drop-down Asteroid list. Even then, I can just cancel-through the avalanche of errors, and the game lurches a little then keeps on chugging along. Surprisingly stable, for an incomplete Alpha.

I will be Officer-izing everyone who has posted above... but probably tomorrow. I'm getting pretty beat, and am about to call it a day.

Feel free to keep up the discussion and planning, though. I have not played ahead even a single day... the AAR is exactly level with the game.

Sounds like you have an incomplete installation, you sure you completed all the required steps:

- Run the setup
- Unzip the 4.70 patch
- Unzip the 5.42 patch

Excellent, and my first name can be Jules. Jules Verenti, Director of Naval Intelligence. Stop cringing, it's awesome.

Kkkkggggggrrrhhhhh.

Ok, I stopped. Atleast it's better than some others in here :p

Got it, but now I have run into another problem, after successfully launching my ships all my Gravitational survey vessels are frozen and show (SP needed (insert number here)) by their name.

Sirs, it is an honor serving the glorious Empire. I hope what I have done has ensured our survival for the coming days.

I do appreciate the medal. Might I inquire what traits allowed me to so gloriously succeed on Mars? Also, what am I doing right now? Scanning asteroids?

This is absolutely amazing. I love spreadsheet games. I'll think about dling it when I get some time.

Is there any chance that you could planet me? I don't want to be an officer, I want to be a planet...preferably a habitable one but whatever would be fun :)
