First Impression: Much work left

Yesterday downloaded, started a game as Westgermany in Sandbox mode and the first look is disillusioning.
1) The Saarland belongs to France: OK, 1949 it was french occupied and their plan was to hold it or make it independent. To reflect this it should coded as an own region with french ownership like Marocco. I hope there is a hardcoded event that cedes the Saarland back to the FRG.
1a) Same thing for the former German lands now belonging to Poland. In 1949 these lands where not annexed but considered as under polish and soviet administration. So these areas should be sepparated under the control of Poland and the SU.....
2) The french send all their troops to Vietnam. Make sense because there is a guerilla war ongoing, but than they sent all the troops back to France. For some weeks the ships where travelling the Suezcanal up and down......
3) As Germany you can build Tiger II tanks and ME262 and so on. I´m sure in 1949 Germany where in no constitution to build these weapons. But here thumbs up, I like this. Some of the best weapons of WW II are available.
4) But why is the ME262 so weak? It was the best Fighter in WW II with no risk of being intercepted by allied fighters with the exception during start and landing....
5) But it comes even better: SU declares war on Gibraltar and no reaction from the UK? This must be changed as fast as possible! In the meanwhile Gibraltar lost the war (surprise, surprise) and get annexed.
6) After that Albania, Czechoslovakia, the Soviets and other states deployed min. 42 units in Gibraltar, mostly tanks. Think about it: Gibraltar has only 6,5 qkm.......
7) Than Spain comes under US sphere of influence and got immediately a declaration of war from the Soviets and again no reaction from anyone....
With all the troops in Gibraltar it is no problem for the soviets to conquer Spain in no time.
8) And to my frustration the programmer hasn´t changed the way how ownership of land is handled. Many countrys are fighting in Vietnam and now you have a rag rug of owners: 1 Hex is dutch, there are 2 canadian hexes, deep in the jungle the portugese has a jungle hex in northern vietnam and so on. This is so disappointing. If France let other nations fight by it´s side in Vietnam, than all conquered land will come directly under french ownership.......
Conclusion: Much work for the programmers. I will post the progress of this testgame later.

4. Unit Balance sounds off for that unit, we'll begin investigating that.

5. They don't need to DoW on the SU, they can go there and defend it by proxy. It does sound like they didn't defend it enough, we'll investigate.

8. There are plans for this to be updated.

4. -> Is only my opinion, no idea wether it´s worth in 1949. But the Me109 are much stronger.....thats why I found the Me262 so weak

5. -> As I remember they aren´t at war with the Sovietunion. But if the soviets attack Gibraltar I think the war is unevitable. Let me have a look at the game later in the evening about that.

8. -> Sounds promising

Ongoing game

After installing Patch 0:

1) The game is much faster now, thanks for that!
2) As Germany I can research Patriot, Gepard, Roland AA´s.....in 1950....????

For the continuing game:
1) UK is not at war with the SU
2) Spain has pushed the soviets back and taken Gibraltar. Only a few pockets where left....-> Respect.

Edit:
3) The French troops don´t reach Indochine, they are all sitting in the northwest corner ob british Malaya
and do nothing.......:-(

Edit2:
4) HonKong is flooded with huge amounts of british, french, dutch, portugese and italian troops......

Edit3:
5) Now it is Mid53 and for the last 3 years the last soviet pocket in Spain remains intact
6) The ongoing war in Korea (missed the start) went historically so far: a) North Korean attack; b) US offense
to the chinese border; c) China attacks und push deep into South Korea -> Now stable front
7) Unfortunately not many wars. Only Ethiopia declares war on Eritrea, which was released by UK, but than
there happened mothing.....
8) It´s a very peaceful Wargame.....

I know have many threads in this fourms I swear im not trying to spam I just thought better make a First Impressions thread since no one has yet. I think

Anyways I think you know what to to leave your first impressions of the game or even you impressions doesnt really matter if its your first.

At first I thought this game was amazing and later when I saw NV crushed in a instant along goes the same with NK I was starting to think maybe this is a little to unrealalistic or even unbalenced for me.

Also my bad I just saw the first impression thread below and I feel like a idiot know dlete this thread if you must

No big deal, just ask RRW to merge and I'm sure he'll help you out.

nice nice game. its like a total mega mod compared to 2020 but mods are useally better than orginal and this is like 2020 but better and alot more.

I am leaning towards your thoughts as well. I have also witnessed North Vietnam and North Korea get pushed back very quickly and not put up much of a fight. I have also tried multiple times to get around the industrial good shortage issue, to only be plagued with other shortages. I raised taxes and shut down factories. It's taken two years to build a couple of industrial and consumer goods factories but they are still not producing anything. I would imagine I'm short on something else as stated above. I'm still learning, but I'm afraid some patches are needed. I won't count the game out yet, but I might hang it up a bit until it's playable. Just my opinion. :rolley

***Edit Update***
Sorry, just saw a patch already lol. Good job Devs on getting something quick!

So, I got through 3 or 4 months as Syria, it runs pretty slow on my computer. I had tried the U.S., but it was far too complicated to start out as.

I observed my industrial goods were in very short supply, so I set to buy them at a very high price, I dismantled one Consumer Goods factory (which appear to use lots of industrial goods), and de-activated the other. I set out to build a micro industrial goods factory, with an annual max of 700 goods.

It did eventually complete, 40 or 50 days later, and my daily went up by 1 goods. I tried to build a mid industrial goods factory, but the progress is very slow, and my people are very upset with no consumer goods.

The mid industrial goods factory should give me significantly more, its about 20% done now.

Budget wise, I'm doing fine, my treasury has grown to 200M+. Diplomatically, I can't get any traction anywhere. No non-aggression pacts, no criminal extradition, nothing. Trading for tech is very difficult, as the other guy wants 100M over the value of the trade to do business. Militarilly, building units that says "7 days" really takes like 60+, as does research.

With battle zone control on, the units seem to behave appropriately, although they move constantly. I'm not sure if that takes up more resources then if they sat still.

So, my overall impression of playing Syria, is that its hard to get enough industrial goods, and that should be your resource priority. Don't waste any time on diplomacy, play on the fastest setting and do your work while going fast, because you can look at the screen for 30 minutes and not click anything. Not like HOI, where you set everything up, then unpause.

BTW, saying that performance is better then the old game is not the same as saying "performance meets our design specifications."

Have to say, performance for me is great. Dramatically better than SR2020.
Ditto. Performance is pretty good.

If you look around the various threads here, it's clear this is a widely shared problem. No one has any industrial goods.

One thing that influences factory output is supply - building out in the middle of the desert will influence how many good a fab can produce. You can turn on the supply overlay on the map to see howe well a give area is supplied, and supply depots help to spread it. Also, unemployment and a myriad of other elements influence the production efficiency, so if you've made huge cuts on your spending, that might be the issue. Finally, you might be missing base products - maybe you only get them from outside trade and there's a world market bottleneck?

The 100M diplomatic fee is something that pops up if you don't have stellar relations with the target country, and they want to milk you for whatever you need. Sometimes this can be negotiated down by a few milions, but generally that's a cost you have to put up with it. To get ahead with diplomacy, you can either piggy back on some wars going around you or bribe the target countries with a money and surplus goods (this also goes for mil equipment).

@Arentak

As Syria you have not much to do, that´s sure. I´ll pick Westgermany and I have succeeded in building 4 IndGood Factories, 6 Ore Mines + some Coal and Timber.
1 Aircraft Factory is going to be ready, you start with 2 Land Fabrication and one shipyard have I added. So my troops come in service, parallel I have a good financial surplus, funding some rebels in Ethiopia, Eastgermany and Northvietnam. I send money and some tanks to Syria (did you see that? *just kidding*) Eritrea and Egypt, making them strong friends of me. But as you wrote, I can´t conclude any treaty with them. But I got many treatys from other states: Alliances and Military Stuff. The only thing I get by myself where all Technologys from the USA for a good price. So maybe Syria is not big enough to be as active as if you picked a country like Westgermany. My Army is for starting with no units quite nice: 11 tanks Tiger2, 3 Engineers, 9 mot. Inf., 12 Arty, 6 AA´s, 3 Supplytrucks, 6 Mountains, 3 Antitanks, 2 Scouts, 2 Subs, 2 Freighter, 1 Destroyer and 1 Sherman tank. I´m quite busy....:D

Thanks for the replies to my observations. I'm certain any new player to the Supreme Ruler series (such as myself), should start with a more managable country then one of the Super-powers. Perhaps a small European country that might have some tech, such as Belgium or Hungary. Syria is pretty fun though, being an Oil exporter is a good thing.

Australia has a nice start and the economy, I found, is easy to get going. Just scrap the infantry that's left over from WWII. There's uranium, oil and ore deposits to tap into, and the agriculture production props you up at least for two years while the world gobbles on some Australian chow.
