Is there a way to make your demesne limit higher? I tried getting around the mechanic by playing with the modded exe that allows for playable Republics, but apparently you still get hit by a demesne limit if you as the human player are controlling a Republic anyway.

No, that is not possible to do.

No, that is not possible to do.

At least not without modding the exe and/or using tsearch to freeze the value.

If you really want to do it I'd try and use tsearch to find the current demense efficiency and then when it changes search again.

You could also look for trainers but not only is it an old game with many patches and expansions and so unlikely to be compatible but also quite risky and probably not the first thing people tried to put in.

Modding the exe is dicier but essentially you'd have to look for the magic number 4 (4 stewardship per province), which is likely to get a lot of hits.
