Paradox Interactive and Turbo Tape Games today unveiled a teaser trailer for their upcoming maritime RTS Naval War: Arctic Circle, a naval strategy title expected to be released in Q2 2012.

Naval War: Arctic Circle will challenge players as they navigate the world’s deadliest ocean vying for dominance and complete control of the arctic seas, strategically controlling naval units above, below and on the surface of the frigid waters. The time has come where global peace has expired and tactical warfare is the only means to secure the treasures of icy depths. Will you be able to reign over the waters in the struggle for the valuable resources in the Arctic?

Awwwwwwww yeaaahhhhhhhhh!!!

That's all I have to say :)

EDIT:

Also, the President and the USN may not fire first... but I can tell you that the RN under my command in this game will definitely be engaging before engaged... Sod trying to engage super sonic missiles... just kill the bombers!!

Sweet trailer, and great music. What band/song is it? Will it be part of the full game? ;)

Nice trailer. And a question about the game. Will the Player play through an open campaign or a set of "missions" connected by a background story?

I loved the video idea. :)

Will there be a dynamic campaign or just preset/custom missions?

The sad, or cool, depending on how you look at it, is that the scenario of this game is very very plausible as oil production peaks.
Loved the music you had chosen for this teaser <3

edit : Loved the teaser in case I didnt make that clear!

We're going the old fashioned route: a set of missions, rather simple at first and then larger ones, connected with a background story.

To what degree the missions will be flexible, that is, stuff carries over from one mission to the next (or not), we've not decided yet. It provides nice rewards for good players, but at the cost of making later missions much harder because you, for example, lost too many aircraft two missions ago.

With the game engine being what it is, one mission can be extremely long and have a large number of sub goals, effectively being an entire campaign. I'm not sure it's a good idea, but it can be done :)
