After 1.03 this works (it was introduced in 1.02 but never filed).

You now, when your son turns ten, should get an event with a choice to either send your son to apprentice with one of the masters. He gets an attribute that enhances his score in their various disciplines (diplomacy, martial or intrigue).

You just need a male child to turn 10 for this to fire, and so far it has worked every time in my new game.

Awesome! Thanks seasnake

You'll be quite spammed with those events, and if you have the moneys, you can really pump your sons in one stat. Got a dude up to 14 DIP here. My suggestion, educate them in what they suck at.

Then half the map surrendered to Uesugi for whatever reason and I ran out of things to conquer anyway.

Ive never had the education event fire on 1.02. Ive had 10 sons reach 10 so far. Ill wait till ive finished my 1st game with 1.02 before getting the 1.3 patch. Plus it will be a few weeks before impulse get the patch anyway lol. Cant get the patches through the launcher or from here. it says the game has to be installed to put the patch on. So as always have to wait for impulse to put the patch up.

1.03 is save-game compatible. I got to continue my Osaki without any trouble.

Yeah, I got my son up to 18 martial. Add to that high martial wife and his actual score is 24. :D

Education is quite OP right now, to be honest.

Talking about OP, I'm having a son in my Date game who has 34 martial (w/o adding wife bonuses). Somehow his education lasted throughout his whole lifetime and his father the clan leader lived till the ripe old age of 71, giving this son ample time to grow his martial.

I'm playing with this 34 martial son as my clan leader now, and as you can expect, he's an absolute beast with a 24k retinue army. He can even solo a 32k army that is defending a river and win with <50% casualties. Too bad he's in his sixties now, and i won't be able to enjoy him much longer.
