Thats how it is. Yesterday we had the first unmodded WW1-game (Germany, France, Russia, UK, Austria and Ottomans) and Central powers were defeated early 1915. Main reason for Germans defeat was lack of divisions: France and Russia simply horded all their troops on German borders and grinded defenders down. That made possible UK to send troops to Montenegro and Egypt. In March 1915 Germany and Ottomans were in full reatreat. Austria was currently defeating Serbia (and later did it) with help of Bulgaria. However Montenegro and Albania were still resisting when game ended. In Carpaths Austria managed stop Russians only because of mountains and rivers but was unable to help Germans situation.

Ant suggestions gentlemen?

Russia has some pretty heavy dissent penalties if they lose cities. There are 2-3 +5 dissent events for territory on Otto-Rus border and 2-3 for Warsaw. Just focus on knocking out Russia and Serbia first.

You could get another player to come and play as a Central Power aligned Italy?

You could also not attack the Low Countries or Switzerland, and focus on defense in the West as suggested. Russia should crumble against the full weight of the Central Powers offensives.

I know it is best strategy not to dow Belgium because that leaves UK out of war and then staying defencive in the west and going all-out attack against Russia. But that strategy is ridicilous gamey. When we play WW1 we think it should be as realistic as possible so I leave gamey options out. So the problem is why did Germany IRL managed to stay offensive both in west and east at same time? There must be done some serious balancing.
