Hello, after playing HoI2 and HoI3 for a few months, I discovered The Modern Day Scenario mod, which in my opinion is a one of the greatest HoI2 mods, even though it still has some problems.
So I decided to start writing an AAR, playing as Germany, the largest economical power in the European Union and also the 4th in the World.

My objectives is to dominate the entire Europe, from Britain to the Urals through annexing and creating loyal puppet regimes. Also I will look for some strange alliances with European or non-European nations.

The Change Begins

In February 3, 2003, a large explosion shakes the capitol city of Berlin. Fire trucks and police cars are roaring on the streets towards the Bundestag.
Multiple explosive devices were set off during a parliamentary meeting and almost half of the building is destroyed.
Rescue operations are launched by the fire department to get out the people under debris while dozens of ambulances take care of the wounded.
After a few hours is confirmed that the President, the Chancellor and over 100 Bundestag members including the President of the Bundestag are dead, and many others are still not found or have very little chances to survive.

Everybody is confused. Who was responsible for this massacre? The Police and the Secret Services start to investigate, the ones responsible will be found!

The First Step. . .

After 3 days, several Bundeswehr generals and other officers, led by Reinhard Günzel (Commander of KSK) took control of the situation and imposed the martial law in Berlin, in order to capture the terrorists.
The roads are blocked and no one can get out or in the city, soldiers guard every street and house to house searches take place.
Thousands of people are taken into custody, especially Turkish immigrants and protesters.

The dissent raises as the martial law extends to several cites close to Berlin, and the country is thrown into chaos.

After a week of searches the terrorists are found, several Turks, members of an Turkish nationalist extremist organisation inside Germany. They where hiding in the suburbs of Berlin, explosive materiel similar to the one used in the Bundestag bombings were found at that location.
The terrorist were arrested by a KSK unit and taken to a secret location.

The martial law was terminated, but Berlin was still kept into a high degree of alert, to prevent other attacks.
After the arrest, more Turks where arrested by the secret services, raising protests in the Turkish Government.
After almost all the government and members of the Bundestag where dead or wounded, new elections had to be held. A good occasion for the newly formed Deutsch Nationalistische Union (German Nationalist Union) under the leadership of Udo Voight to take a step forward and make some changes. DNU was also supported by many military leaders of the Bundeswehr, especially Reinhardt Günzel, who was known to be a nationalist and against the multi-cultural policy of Germany.
Some conspiratonists start to believe that all of this events where planned by this "ultra-nationalist" parties and military leaders to create a coup d'etat. Many of them die in strange accidents or are silenced.

DNU promises big changes in immigrant control and making new laws, in order to be able to repatriate them more easily and also a "New Germany".

A new pillar of support of DNU emerges; an union of industrialists and corporation leaders, like Volkswagen Group, Daimler AG, Siemens Group and Rheinmetall. They create this union to help Germany grow economically and to develop a stronger industrial capacity.

DNU becomes more and more popular through a good propaganda network. The Germans begin to support this new union after the bloody terrorist attacks made by Turkish extremists, believing that Germany should be only for the Germans.
 
Oooh, sounds intriguing. Hmm, I wonder if the new Germany's anti-Turkish position might lead it to ally with a newly expansionist Greece. Megali Idea anyone?

Greece is a possibility, there's also another European nation that will side the New Germany for territorial reasons.
 
The New Germany

The elections day has come. People allover the Germany are voting for the new leadership of the country,
casting their ballots in the boxes.

The members of DNU are excited and everyone of them knows that they have a big chance to win this elections and create the New Germany they dreamed for decades.

Next day, after the count, all the news headlines are saying "DNU Election Victory", they won with an outstanding 63% of the votes. The opposition parties jump up with accusations of fraud, but nobody really cares. Every German knows that a change has to be made, especially after the Bundestag bombings.

A new government and military structure is made, The president of Germany, Udo Voight, has more power than a normal president does, but he commands from the shadow, for now. . .

The new government

Germany becomes a reactionary state, the International community is stunned by the rapid flow of events, but nothing can be done, the new nationalist government was elected by the people.
The economic policy of the New Germany changed from a free market to a semi-centralized economy because new industrial union of several large companies in Germany that gave the control of their industries to the state.

Also, the military budget was substantially increased, in order to create a much stronger armed force. A tradition that Germany started to forget, until now.

When the United States of America invaded Iraq, the new government condemned this military operations, calling the Americans imperialists with a expansionist policy, and also refused to take any part to this illegal war. The government cancelled the military transit treaty with USA shortly after.

With the diplomatic relations with USA getting cold, Germany looked for other ways to increase their strength. An opportunity has emerged, after several discussions with the French and Russian leaders.

This new partnerships makes a way for Germany to strengthen it's economical power through good trades with Russia and France.

A massive research and development program was started with the help of German state and private companies. Most noted is the secret nuclear submarine project that the German Submarine Training Center is developing for the navy. A lot of research is allocated to the improvement of the Luftwaffe.

More Changes

After the new power stabilized in Germany, the new government issued a law.
A total ban on Turkish immigrants in the country. This way, a massive repatriation program began. The Turkish government was outraged by this move and terminated all diplomatic relations with Germany. But this wasn't all, steadily all other immigrants that were coming from other countries had to leave Germany because they were fired from their jobs and could't find another one.
The government said that this actions had to be done in order to secure jobs for the German people.
The West European countries didn't say anything, as they have their own immigrant problems, and would act in the same way as Germany did. But USA condemned Germany for this events saying that it's anti-democratic and disagrees with the concept of European Union.

To punish Germany, USA decided to ban Germany for making trade agreements with post-war Iraq, this way creating more tension between the two countries.

In order to increase the strength of the German Armed Forces, a change in recruiting policy must be made, more manpower is needed. This way, the government issues the National Draft in which every citizen that achieves the age of 18, is drafted into the Armed Forces. This decision is met with some protests from the youg population, but is a crucial factor for the building of the New Germany

The economic policy turns more to central planing through more private companies joining the National Union of Industries or by being bought by the state.

A military build-up program was started, with the focus on strengthening the ground forces. Three new mechanized divisions are being built, 45,000 men and women were taken from the reserve pool to create this elite divisions.

The new government makes another intriguing move, by retaking control of the German elements of the Eurocorps, the 10th Panzer Division, saying that Germany can't no longer participate in the military structure of the EU, but it will continue it's economical collaboration.

Shame. Was looking forward to a reborn Axis(minus Italy, plus Iran) kicking American asses.

Romania maybe? To remake "Great Romania" (Rep. Moldova, Silistra[South Romania], Northern Bukovina).
