Biggest and longest NWAC scenario so far so much so towards the end some stuttering occured not bad though they would come and go.

Just wondering if the result could be considered decent enough? It was on normal difficulty. Damn Russian battlegroup with air support is one tough nut to crack.

Not a single enemy anti ship missile, not even one, whether from air and from their warship and battlegroup managed to hit any of my warship in my battlegroup. I feel good finishing this. Not even a scratch. Not even one of their missile got me or any of the ship in my formation. There was one close one though. Very close in fact just right within CIWS defense range but it was hit by a launched SAM....but that was too close for comfort. While playing I imagined myself in the flagship LOL.

Couldn't believe a group of frigates managed to defeat Russian battlegroup(Kirov, Slava, Udaloy II and 2 or 3 Russian frigates to a total of 6 warships). Their formation could defend against massed cruise missiles attack so damn well. Of course the air force played a major role. If it hadn't been because of the airforce no doubt it would be impossible. The Russians sent in loads of their own planes from 2 of their own airfields as well, 5th generation T-50s stealth fighters, so many Su-35s and strategic bombers that launced anti ship missiles at my battlegroup. They even sent couple drones to try to attack one of my airfield and used strategic bomber too to launch strike missiles at the airfield too. None hit the airfield, all shot down before reaching their target

There was a single ship casualty though but that ship wasn't part of the group he didn't have a chance against their missiles.

And one thing I almost forgot to mention it was my FIRST ATTEMPT
It was so long when things looked like they were winding down a bit I hit the shower and left the game for a time and when I got back it was just in time to save the airfield from two or four T-22M strategic supersonic bombers, so I assigned the airborne fighters to intercept them, LOL. Is there any pause button?

Ah perfect, someone thinking the same. I really think this mission needs to be redesigned. 3 hours are way too long for a gaming session without a save.

Still it is a fun mission and actually the only one up to the point you play this scenario in which changing aircraft ammo from anti air to anti ship and bombardment makes some sense. My stats were similar by the way. About 35 planes shot down, the 5 ships required to complete the mission, while loosing 14 airplanes and 2 ships. By the time the mission was about to end I was so tired that I went into some "come on, finish this already" berserk state, sending carelessly all my aircraft on the enemy ships after switching to naval bombardment and some other type of ammo that hits ships.

That sub however, I did not see it at all. I wonder how close to my ships it was. Where did you find it?

I got kind of annoyed during the middle section, when my missile attacks kept getting shot down, but then they actually ran out of SAM missiles, and after that, it was kind of fun just trashing the Russian task group with my Gripens (christ, not much fuel on those) and F-35s.

Yeah you're so exactly right I switched many of the Gripen's loadout to standoff weapons for naval strike and all the F-35s to naval strike too but only did that near the end.

Actually 30 min into the game I knew it was going to be a long long game. But I had my comfort drink with me and I didn't feel pressured to finish it quickly. Took my time and didn't quit because I thought I had to do this at least once. it wasn't tiring at all because the though the mission had its suspense once I managed to shoot down most of the Russian airracrafts I knew it was probably only a matter of time before I defeated their battlegroup.

As for the Kilo well it was shooting Klub missiles(submarine anti ship missile) at my battlegroup mid way in the game so I sent in my helicopters and dropped sonobuoys, 15 minutes later it was detected and thus subsequently prosecuted and sunk.

Though pause button would be nice I do not mind at all not having one. Personally I'm enthusiastic enough to hang on. But a save feature would be nice though for practical reasons.

That sounds like one epic game you had there, Mighty Heart :D

 Yeah it kinda was.

Yeah they ran out of SAMs too in my last massed attacks by most of my jets and battlegroup. I assigned most of the jets to attack the Russian battlegroup at the same time as my battlegroup launched their remaining harpoon surface to surface missiles. In that last attack the Russians ran out of SAMs lol mid way through defending against the attack. Sank the biggest ships to a total of 4 at once as a result. 14 min later the 2 remaining Russian frigates were within range of the 2nd longest SSMs so I launched those at them and won the game.

Btw I think the Gripen in real life doesn't have that much long leg after all. They are similar to the F-16. F-16 without external fuel tank also tend to have a short operational range.
