Hi,

for all those who were always a bit unsure about which river is which in HoI2/AoD's map, I've tried to solve the issue by giving them the (hopefully) right name.

This "guide" covers European rivers only and can be downloaded here.

Cool. Always found it strange that there was a tooltip for lakes but not rivers.

I agree. It would be nice to have this feature again (was in the first HoI, IIRC).

The problem is that lakes are treated as normal provinces while rivers aren't, so no tooltip when hovering the mouse over them. :(

File is down.
This seems to be a problem occurring rather often with Gamefront, lately. I guess files become downloadable only after a couple of hours or so after they've been uploaded.

Gosh Titan - are you trying to become a geographer all of a sudden!?
Well, I've always liked geography very much and I've been annoyed since the release of HoI2 by the lack of river names... so this is the result of these two issues combined ;)

I've never noticed before, but rivers in the nordic countries aren't in the game.
What do you mean, exactly? The map I've posted is just an "artwork" from mine and I just left out a couple of rivers, but this doesn't mean that they're not present in the game. :)

Speaking of rivers, here is the surprise for the next beta release :)

(cursor is over the river but print screen does not capture it)

Sorry for the typo...

...AAAHHH, SWEET! (that has actually been my first reaction after seeing this ;))

Thank you Gunman, that's really a nice one!

Thank you - but I admit I just wanted to make a quick "traveller's guide" for the players... I wouldn't have imagined it would turn this way!

If it's so, I think I'll try to make a couple other "subliminal" suggestions like this one... ;)

Thanks, gunman, this is very impressive. :)

Re:E3 I'd like to ask how you've defined the rivers. Has each province neighbouring the river to be added separately? Can the crossing difficulty be defined for each province or - only - for the entire river? Translations of the river names are added - as usual - to the provincenames.csv file?

The river names are read from adj-defs.csv, until now they seem to be unused. For the crossing difficulty, a new column can be added in the same file, after the river names. However this is to be implemented in 1.09

Well, I'm honest when I say that I did this only for fun, and that I hadn't the slightest idea that the devs would add such a feature. But this doesn't mean that I'm not super happy about that! ;)

On the names: yeah, I too thought at first to name the German rivers in their original language - but then I decided to use English names whenever available since, if not, many people wouldn't probably recognize them...

Nice idea, Titan.
Thanks, Fürst! Nice to see you back around here, by the way ;)

Can't wait what other sublimity you have in store Titan...
...I'd like to know, too! :p (jokes apart, I'll try to submit something new in the next days)

Thanks, Fürst! Nice to see you back around here, by the way ;)

Just lurking from time to time. There were/are too many projects going on which keep me way too busy. :(

Btw my armynamesXXL mod encountered some semi-hardcoded limits: several names couldn't be displayed properly, i.e. some characters aren't supported atm. I do know that the font files can be amended but I don't have a clue how this can be done or which programs should be used. I've only found some hints how you can change the fonts for games based on the Clausewitz engine but sadly none for those based on the Europa engine. Do you've some ideas? I remember that you've made once a statement re fonts.

italian unit names
6ª Armata
1ª Divisione alpina "Taurinense"
185ª Divisione paracadutisti "Folgore"

spanish unit names
40ª División
las divisiones 12ª y 14ª
5º Ejército soviético

brazilian unit names
1º Grupo de Aviação de Caça

and also french units would benefit:
1er Corps d'Armée
2e Corps d'Armée

EDIT: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and also 2d and 3d would be nice to have, too
