Hi - I'm very excited because I've finally managed to get For the Glory to run in Mac OS X via Wineskin (i.e. without having to boot into Windows either via Bootcamp or Parallels/VMWare Fusion), which is free. There have been some previous threads (also this one) about FTG and Wine, but I'd never been able to get it to work before - either the screen would flicker madly or I get some other error.
Here's what seems to work for me:
When you start the Wineskin Wrapper, I set the Screen Options as follows:
Rootless (Windowed) - this is important, I could not get FTG to work in Full Screen mode without madly flickering
Virtual Desktop at 1280x800 (also worked at my Macbook Pro's native 1440x900 resolution, but the Mac OS X dock keeps opening when I try to scroll in the bottom of the screen...)
Override Wine Control of Screen Settings
The other Screen Options don't seem to matter
Also in the Advanced settings I set:
Wine Debug to "-all" (I think this turns off debugging, as this can cause problems).
The other important thing is to edit the "settings.txt" file in the For the Glory directory (in Program Files) to the current resolution used, but to leave in full screen mode (since Wine puts it full screen in a virtual desktop) e.g.
graphics = {
size = {
x = 1280
y = 800
}
fullscreen = yes
}
Anyway, the game seems to run fine, no noticeable lag and the interface actually looks more vivid (perhaps because of different Mac gamma setting). I haven't tried it with any Mods (e.g. AGCEEP) yet, but don't foresee any problems.
Its a shame it doesn't work in full screen mode, so I can't easily make use of all my available screen estate, though its actually quite handy to be able to run it in a Window. See images below for "proof"

I hope this makes some other Mac users excited, its not quite as good as having a Mac OS X native version of FTG, but at least it means the game is playable without having to boot into Windows!
