Carthage's Senator Shortage.....

Playing as Carthage, annexing Numidia, the spanish tribes, and southern Italy, I still can't seem to have enough senators. I have very few leaders at all, let alone Censor and Legate cantidates. :(

When playing as Rome, I seem to have an abundance of Senators. (By Senator, I mean character)

Odd, I just loaded a Carthage campaign to see if I had the same problem, but I count no less than 35 male characters of age in Carthage. Not all will be available for every position, so maybe you just need to check that they meet the requirements for each office?

It could also be that the game simply hasn't generated many new characters for you yet after your conquests. The game generates new characters (both through births and also random generation) based loosely on how many provinces you control, so it might be that they haven't been made yet, or haven't reached the prerequisite ages to be chosen for holding office.

Cheexstra, first, thanks for all your help. You're like, such a go-to guy for this stuff.

Second, at game start, I had sufficient leaders (quite a bit fewer then rome, but still).

35 Leaders sounds like a lot, but with 10 governors, 5 tech leaders, 2 censors, and armies and/or navies, its not really enough. Rome seemed to have an inifinite amount.

I put most of my soldiers in as governor's troops to help with the load a bit. I have taken all of the western med by 525, so, its probably a case where I have leaders growing up. Thanks for explaining how that works. Now that I've annexed Rome, its on to easy street I guess. Once I let my leaders grow up.

It helps that I have plenty of time on my hands :p

Yeah, it's probably just a case then of having to wait for the characters to reach the right age (and is one of the dangers of expanding too quickly). In the meantime, just keep going the way you are and use the time to consolidate your gains and prepare to meet the Seleucid monster. You thought Rome had an infinite number of characters? ;)
