I have a few questions before I buy the game because I've been looking at it lately and the more I research it the more I like it.

Basically I have 3 major questions:

Q: Can I play as other countries then build them up stronger than the U.S and USSR and get nuclear weapons?

Q: When does the game end? Like how far into the future does it go?

Q: How do you "win" the game?

A: Yes.

Q: When does the game end? Like how far into the future does it go?

A: As long as you want.

Q: How do you "win" the game?

A: You have a number of victory conditions to choose from, space race and sphere among them. You can continue even after winning.

I know this is bit of topic but. Can you play as East Germany in this game?

I picked it up, as it goes it is definitely the best of the series.

If you like country sims and wargames, SR:CW is basically a blend of the two, with equal depth and complexity on both. IMHO no one has effectively made a country simulator yet, they all fall way short of being complete and realistic, but as wargame with 'country building elements' SR is one of the best, and SR:CW is the best of the SR series.

it's an interesting game but it's so horribly slow. here's a calculation:

for 1 day i need 1.5 minutes on fastest speeed, which means the 40 year long cold war, if played without pause, takes me 365 real life hours, or a bit over 15 days non stop.

people say that hoi3 slows down to a crawl - they should try playing srcw :glare:

You should try it with the latest beta patch.

Based on user feedback I'm told you have to manually make changes to get the update beta to work with Steam.

It is savegame compatible but that is not recommended. The game is not only faster but the AI has been taught not to make choices that were causing performance issues.

Where to get this beta patch?

And what choices cause preformance issues?

It's the most insightful game. The term, 'demand' is a chimera. People might demand, consumer goods, have the means to purchase and not buy. There might be no recession. The U. S. A. has a 15 Billion treasury, I have 6 Billion in 1951, India.

I bought it recently, and my biggest complaints are the crawling speed (takes like 20 hours to get through the 50s) and very lacking documentation. This is a game that needs a much more detailed manual or better ingame help.

I agree it's just way too complicated.

The game speed issue will be resolved in update 3 which is in final beta testing stages. The beta is available for download from our dev forum.

Normally I'd point you to our SupremeWiki for detailed information however it fell to spam attacks recently. We're working to port it to a new format that will be more secure.

Yeah, though the game feels like it was rushed, it's good to see the devs are working on it. It feels solid with just the right amount of complexity, but the issues I mentioned are really a doozy. Wish I could test the update, but I'll be eagerly awaiting its release on the Steam version.
