Thinking of getting this game. Just got into 4X games and saw this game and wanted to know if it is any good? WHat kind of game is it? Is it urn based or RTS? Please let me know a few things about it so I can decide if I am going to get it or not. Thanks guys... Also how is the learning curve, and if I do get it would I be able to get it off of Steam?
P.S. how does this game compare to Fallen Enchantress?

I cant compare to FE as I dont have that game yet!

Its turn based. The AI is okay. Good initially, but once you beat it, its not that difficult to finish it off.

Learning curve..... well Ive played lots of different games and this is a synch. It should be fine for you too. There is no research tree. Diplomacy is basic, so nothing complicated. In terms of city management, its really straightforward compared to something like Civ. Spell casting its a like confusing but only due to the range included and knowing which ones to choose for your strategy. Otherwise you should be able to pick it up quite easily.

Theres a thread about the DLCs somewhere here... basically most people found the Arethi Elves and Armageddon DLCs to be the best value for money. But if you can you should try all of them.... they really make the game as good as it can be.

Value for money... excellent. Dont take my word for it though. It has loads and loads of replay value. Well at least a good dozen games as you play different factions and map configurations and victory modes.

Yes its available on STEAM. Infact if you buy it elsewhere you will have to register it on steam anyway.

Its a must buy at 5$ for the whole thing..I think gamersgate was selling it cheap atm. The game only works with Steam so if you buy it from someone else (like gamergate) you still get a Steam code and use Steam to run it. Warlock is a fantasy turn based strategy game. You make your moves, hit end turn and everyone else moves just like FE There is multiplayer if you are into that. Many people call Warlock a mix of Civilization 5's city management and hex based map with Age of wonders:SM/Heroes of might and magic heroes and armies. There are 3 basic parts to the game 1) city manangement, where you build buildings and manage resources such as gold, mana and food. 2) Unit management, where you explore the world and fight ai factions and neutral monster with units build mostly from cities 3) Spell casting - where you as a "great mage" cast spells, roughly 1-2 per turn that buff your cities, do damage to enemies ect. The whole game is very similar to Fallen enchantress but I prefer Warlocks strategic (not tactical) combat and more colorful graphics.

Very nice game, AI can be a bit silly and has limited diplomatic options. Easy to learn and play. I fell in love with units since majesty and just had to get this game.

Fallen enchantress is more challenging has more "depth" and stronger AI. I have played both games and each has something addictive.

There is a thread Warlock vs Fallen enchantress you can find more there.

Both FE and Warlock have great replayability and are good games. 2012 is actually an incredible year for an old strategy gamer like me

Fallen Enchantress, Warlock, XCOM, Kings Bounty: Warriors of the North, Tropico 4 (might have been released last year, but I bought it this summer).

My disappointment of the year is Endless Space, but I might give it another chance.

That's interesting. :)
I really enjoy Warlock, Endless Space, and XCOM, but was disappointed with FE (lack of retreating, silly balancing) and thought King's Bounty was just more of the same.

Endless space offers simultaneous MP, pretty good balance, and a dev team that is active on the forums and keeps improving the game.
