There is an ugly overproducing bug for the AI, which means it's putting units in the (front of the) production queue like a greedy stupid child.

I have already reported this in the forums many years ago for armageddon or doomsday or whatever version.
That time it harmed mainly the soviets, now the difference it occured mainly for UK and Japan.
Now it is 2012, I tried Aod 1.7 + IC 1.2. Hoi2 got twenty or who knows how much patches since than, and this obvious bug is still there!

I was wondered why the UK and Japan do nearly nothing in my game, so I loaded my Germany save game (1941 june, 1936 scenario) as England and as Japan.

I checked their production:

Their queue is full of half-ready and 90% ready units, thats why they have nothing. That's why Japan was kicked off by the chinese SOO easily.
That's why the english guarded ALL north africa with no more than ONE division.
The "smart" AI produces a division by half and then it switches to another and start producing a new one. Outstanding!!

And I am tried to play games against complete fool AI opponents, so I quitted the game.

I use Doomsday, Armegedon, Iron Cross 1.3 and have never seen this bug in all the years Ive played.

Perhaps you should try downloading and installing one of the Player Made AI's.

I checked the US also in my game, they are bugged for me, too.

I guess it is there in all hoi versions. It was there in plain hoi2 and it is there in AoD+IC. So it is likely that the bug is hardcoded.
Players who haven't seen it maybe never checked their opponent's production.

Can somebody disprove it, or recommend a fix? Player Made AI's likely wouldn't help. I edited the .AI files a lot in the past and they didn't have parameters
which could affect the production habits of the AI.

Sad, because I liked this game. But it makes no sense to play with this bug.
Feels like I am playing chess with a baby...too bad for me.

It´s not a bug. The AI produces Unit much cheaper than a human player. So if you load up the game to check a AI-controlled Country it displays the normal Unit Cost.

I know it produces cheaper.

But in my example (see my screenshots) please explain how cheap Japan produces when he has at best 50 IC for production (accounting a brutal IC AI bonus) and the queue length is 1947 IC.
It means that the AI have 4000% production bonus. Are you sure it is real?

And why these countries have practically no divisions, just their initial OOB, while other non-bugged countries produce new divisions regularly?

How can it be that the "1st Armoured Div. 'Royal Hussars'" (see my screenshot) which is the first ARM name for ENG is still in production in 1941?
