Could a map with the scale 3897x5052 work?

Here's a picture of the event window spam I was talking about.

How do I get rid of it? It makes it impossible to test the map beyond the first day or two.

Just wanted to give this query a bump, because I get it too. I noticed it began after removing stuff from landed_titles, so I put it back, it worked. I went through deleting bit by bit, till eventually I could delete nothing more without that happening. It was the e_arabia block. If I delete that I get that mass of event window spam. All I can think of doing about it is keeping the arabs in but using localisation to rename everything, and change their cultures, but I'd like to know what causes it so I can create landed_titles from scratch.

you might neutralize every event file involving titles from vanilla. it is those that deals with e_roman_empire, k_papal_state, e_byzantium, knight orders & hashashin, mongols, aztecs : those come to my mind but there shoul be a few others. you might do a sub directory search for b_***, c_*** , d_***, k_***, e_**** in events directory to do filter them out.
then just blank the content of those files, or blank the implicated events.

Especially events with years = XXXX trigger. You have to search events with "years", and remove the events having that trigger.

didn't though about those but thanks (...leaving to check his own non 1066 mod :p )

Since I had the same issue with my Sengoku mod... :p

Do you need any special software? All I see on that site are some random map files, nothing that's akin to a topology.bmp file. I'm obviously missing something very fundamental to the process because none of this makes any sense to me :(
There is a bump/normalmap section on the website I mentionned.

But you may need to find some other sources and softwares to create a map from scratch (I think of GIS softwares for instance)

It will definitely not (as long as PDS don't change the engine which is highly unprobable to happen).

The higher limit for CK2 map size is set to around 10M pixels (there is a map mod with a size of a little more than 10M pix but I can't seem to find it).

I personnally use a 3072² map (working perfectly fine but no normal map) and I managed to get a 3136² map to load but with graphical glitches.

Hi, I created a map from scratch, loaded it all into the proper folders, and whenever I try to load the game it CTDs at "Loading Flags". I've tried systematically removing the bits of the map and replacing them with vanilla files, but no luck. Anyone else ever had this problem and found a solution?

Has anyone ever encountered a strange issue. When you start a new game, all is fine, but when you save it, and then go to reload later on (or even just save>resign>reload), half the world "loses" it's characters and basically all info? Like the province history files are missing (but from a savegame)?
Any ideas what might be causing it?

I hate saying this because it ALWAYS sounds patronizing, but have you tried verifying the game cache (assuming you're on steam)

If not, I've had this problem with EU3 before, only I didn't have steam version. I think that it stems from some kind of bizarre save-game corruption, but the only way I could fix it was to reinstall the game. By any chance were some things reset to how they were at the start of the game? Not sure if it's the same with CK2 but I guess it should work

On another note, fixed my problem from earlier.

Not patronising at all ;)
I have the GG version, but the issue is present across everyone who's using the EK mod at the moment, rather than isolated to a single system. I'd have guessed savegame corruption myself too if it was just me, with it being everyone, it has to be an issue with the mod but I have no idea what it could be :blink:

I'm currently reading through to see if this problem has been addressed earlier, but I suspect not. I am experiencing an issue where my map doesn't paint the texture on the land but instead makes a bunch of pillars of land. My provinces exist and show up, but are black. Here's a screencap:

I've checked the color tables, saved the dds's in the format suggested on page 4 of this thread (DX5 argb | interpolated alpha no mib), checked to make sure topology is above the water (set to 100 with waterlevel at 94), but I cannot figure it out. Here is an upload so you can check it if it's not a quick solution or something obvious I"ve missed.

Got some question.
when I start the game, map and overlay independent realm view is too bright. not sure what the problem is.
I made new map, changing everything, and I made sure I used right colorset and right save method, made sure everything right.
Map size is 2048x1536.

I figured out my problem. It is quite simple really, I had went through and tried to improve performace early on and changed something I wasn't supposed to.

draw_hires_terrain=yes
is supposed to be
draw_hires_terrain=no

As I had (thankfully) used a temp_files folder this didn't affect my vanilla game.

Did you also changed the world_heightmap.bmp map ?
-> NO : The issue can be fixed by tweaking the ./gfx/FX/pdxmap.lua file (don't remember the exact value, sorry)
-> YES : Check if the normal map actually display the right way on the map.

-> YES : In this case, same as before, the issue can be fixed by tweaking the ./gfx/FX/pdxmap.lua file
-> NO : If the normal map doesn't display then the engine does not support the map size for normal map, in this case, keep an vanilla size (2048x2048) blank normal map to reobtin the original lightning.
