Hi all, this is my 2nd AAR, and 1st time playing Serbia in DW.

mods: no fog gfx fix, no pirates, rebels are non-reinforcing and non-resilient

Chapter I: The Reign of King Stefan II

On Day 1, we cancel the vassalization. This takes us down to -3 stab. We move the slider toward Land, taking us to -2 on the Land slider.

After recovering some stab, we declare war on Ragusa. We siege Ragusa. Immediately afterwards, we declare on Zeta, where we have a core. They are allied with Wallachia and The Knights.

EU3_23.jpg

We attack Wallachia first, defeat their army, and siege their 2 provinces. We now have 3 1k armies sieging Ragusa, Wallachia and Oltenia. We send our 4th 1k army into Zeta to defeat their Pretender Rebels and siege the province.

EU3_31.jpg

On November 14, 1400, we hire an Ambassador. He should give us an edge in diplomatic negotiations, and we'll need all the help we can get to some strong allies before we have to face the Ottomans and Hungary. We also hire a Fort Defense advisor. We figure we'll need an edge in the siege game once we're in a serious war.

As you can see, we have a great King, so we wont be making him a military leader until we have a really important battle.

EU3_32.jpg

In July 1401, Serbia converts to the Catholic faith. This should give us an edge in our fight against the Ottomans. To stay Orthodox would be pointless for a number of reasons:

1. The strong Orthodox countries, Muscowy and Novgorod, are far away, and can't help us.
2. Orthodox makes Royal Marriages with our Catholic neighbours difficult, which then makes all the other diplomatic pacts difficult.

So, staying Orthodox would make it really hard for us to get good allies. It is a historic decision, but well thought out.

We accept an alliance offer from Achaea.

We annex Ragusa.

We fire the Fort Defense advisor and hire a Diplomat.

We annex Zeta.

We annex Wallachia.

EU3_38.jpg

We have 6 provinces now. Our land force limit is 8. We're not so small anymore, but our financial situation is so bad that we can't afford to send Missionaries.

We accept an alliance offer from Naples.

We enter a Royal Marriage with Poland.

We declare war on Sardinia with the Alliance CB for the war taxes.

Sicily offers us a Royal Marriage which we accept.

In 1403, we enter a Royal Marriage with Hungary.

In 1404, we enter a Royal Marriage with France. Ottomans have conqured Constantinople. They have a Vassalize Karaman mission.

In 1405, we enter a Royal Marriage with Castille.

In 1406, we enter a Royal Marriage with Bohemia. Then, a couple of months after that, we see this:

EU3_56.jpg

Over the course of the following years, we enter a Royal Marriage with every European country of any significance from England to Muscowy. In 1409, Poland declares on the Teutons to take Danzig. We honour their call.

In 1410, we move the slider towards -3 Land. This increases our force limit to 9. We are barely making enough money to finance the army at the lowest possible level, even with war taxes.

In 1412, our Diplomat removes 6 infamy for us through an event. In the same year, Hungary attacks Poland, and we honour the call. We're getting war subsidies from Bohemia. Austria, who was allied with both Poland and Hungary, enters the war on the Polish side.

EU3_68.jpg

Hungary sends a stack to Ragusa, and we split up our stack and siege 7 of their provinces. Hungary white peaces with the alliance leader shortly after.

EU3_72.jpg

In 1415, the Emperor offers us an alliance. In 1416, we choose Military Drill for our first NI.

In 1418, the Ottomans have a Regency for their 3-year old Sultan. They are fighting 4 wars in Asia: vs Novgorod, vs Timurids, vs Qara Koyonlu and vs Golden Horde.

With our alliance situation being very good, we feel the time is right to attack.

EU3_75.jpg

We receive subsidies from Sweden, Naples and Bohemia. With the funds, we recruit 2 more regiments to take us to 11.

EU3_80.jpg

We siege all of their provinces except their capital. We then figure out that Thrace is the capital, so we move that siege to Edirne. We dont wanna siege their capital because that would invite an Ottoman stack to expressly break up the siege, and we want to keep them in Asia for as long as possible.

EU3_81.jpg

The Ottoman stack comes to Europe, so we have to retreat from some of the sieges. Meanwhile, Hungary attacks Poland and we honour the call.

We get a Local fortification event, which increases our Fort Defenses by 50% for the next 6 years. We also hire a 30% Fort Defense advisor.

EU3_84.jpg

We win the first siege against the Ottomans. Hungary white peaces with Poland.

Sweden, Naples and Bohemia renew their subsidies for a second year.

EU3_91.jpg

We win the siege of Bulgaria, and defeat the Algerian army. Algeria peaces out afterwards for Bohemian Corsica and 10 ducats.

We win the 3rd siege against the Ottomans in Larissa. The Imperial Diet elects a newborn from Bohemia as Emperor.

We win the siege of Bosnia.

We move the slider towards -4 Land.

Naples continues to send us war subsidies for a 3rd year.

EU3_106.jpg

Initially, it was Poland fighting the Turk with us, and Bohemia was nowhere in sight. But once Poland peaced out, Bohemia sent 48 stacks to the front. With Bohemia's strong help, we manage to siege all of the European territories of the Ottomans.

Ottomans still wont deal, so we send them peace offers to destabilize them. After going down to -1 stab, they finally make peace.

EU3_115.jpg

We gained Edirne, Macedonia, Nis and Bulgaria.

In 1425, Austria offers us an alliance. The same year we declare on Hungary with the Alliance CB. Hungary is fighting Bohemia.

EU3_120.jpg

We call in Austria and Naples. Poland is fighting the Golden Horde, so we'll call them into the war later if we need them. Hungary calls Castille who becomes their alliance leader.

EU3_121.jpg

We lay siege to Hungary. Hungary is fighting rather well in the north, so we call in Poland as well.

EU3_124.jpg

Milan peaces out for 54 ducats.

It is 1427, and we declare on the Ottomans.

EU3_125.jpg

We make peace with Hungary, taking Croatia, Dalmatia, Banat and Transylvania.

EU3_126.jpg

We smell blood against the Ottomans, we'll finally let our King take the field against the Turk. We convert our old King into a General, and proceed to attack an Ottoman stack.

EU3_133.jpg

We lose the battle. It's time to call in our allies into the war. Poland joins, but white peaces almost immediately afterwards. Austria wont join, so we dont call them. Bohemia joins and sends forces to the front. Naples joins.

EU3_134.jpg

Bohemia wipes the Ottoman stack, and we siege the 5 Ottoman European provinces and the 2 Bosnian ones. Castille peaces out after Austria destroyed a 15k stack of theirs in Dalmatia.

EU3_137.jpg

We move our slider toward centralized, taking us one notch away from 0 on the slider.

We peace out with the Ottomans, taking Silistria and Burgas.

-----------

We're still very poor, we can't afford any buildings. But our inflation is below 1%, and we have converted almost all our provinces to Catholic. We're considering minting to build a COT in Edirne, but that would take us to over 5% inflation, so we still havent taken that step. We'd rather conquer a COT, but Alexandria and Astrakhan are still far away, and Venice isn't collapsing just yet.

And once Croatia, Dalmatia and Ragusa core, we can join the HRE.

Poland is leading PUs with Lithuania, Norway and Pskov.

I'm allied to Bohemia and England. Portugal and Burgundy are down to one province. Austria is Emperor, but they just went over the BB limit.

Austria wont let me join the HRE even though we're at 200 relations. I guess I should keep spamming the magistrates?

You can't join HRE if you have more provinces than the Emperor. Best try Vassalising/PUing electors instead.

I guess you learn something new everyday.

OP: Looking good so far. Alexandria isn't that far away.

I don't know if the bug is corrected , but in 5.1 , you can as the game compares your size with the whole empire ...
