Chapter 49 - Age of Indian Exploration (part 1)

Even in the time of peace, Hindustan still aimed to eliminate Dahan. There could only be one great nation in the region and that would be Hindustan. The fact that, after 6 Jihads, Dahan still existed showed how formidable this enemy is. The Jihads have slowly showed the people of Dahan that Hindustan would be the better nation to rule over them. Thus, Hindustan nobles, with the help of some Chinese nobles, successfully forged claims on a Dahan province. The sultan hoped that the cooperation would speed up his claim on the other Chinese provinces.

chapter49a.png

Even though Dahan was still viewed as a threat, the Chinese nation has been in great decline recently with her constant war with her neighbors. Following the defeat to Hindustan and the Mongol Khanate, Dahan still found herself at war. The Joseon, longing to payback against Dahan, has managed to take a few provinces in their recent victory. Like a carcass, Dahan has been targeted by vultures that have been circling above.

chapter49c.png

The time of peace also saw many technological breakthroughs. Hindustan has been slowly, but steadily, catching up to their neighbors in technology. While their trade and production has been lacking behind, the great Indian nation hasn't overlooked their land and government tech. It's thanks to key breakthroughs in these that Hindustan has been able to reign supreme in their region.

chapter49d.png

The greatest achievement by Hindustan was their new exploration expeditions. The captain who approached the sultan has indeed successfully mapped out the Philippines. As a result, the sultan sent a regiment to search and clear out all savages that threaten the colonies. No mercy was shown to the savages and the colonies were set up rather quickly. Before long, the sultan found out that, from the colonies in Philippines alone, there were many goods that would greatly benefit his nation. The captain, having completed his part of the bargain, got the funding he needed to explore the new world. The last news received by his fleet was that he was rather close.

Chapter 50 - Getting Too Greedy

A few years after the discovery of the Bering Sea, the Hindustan sultan decided to become very ambitious. Three Jihads were declared that would see Hindustan at war with nearly all the major Eastern Asian nations. Jihads were declared on Khmer, Lan Xang and Dahan. However, Joseon came to the aid of Khmer.

chapter50a.png

Joseon, forced by the new war, decided to end their previous war against the Mongol Khanate where they got one province. The first few months showed the sultan that he got a little too greedy. By fighting on a multiple fronts, even the massive Hindustan army cannot deal with all the enemy regiments. Therefore, the sultan, under the suggestion of his generals, decided to end the war with Joseon.

chapter50b.png

While the diplomat was sent in a hurry, the Fine Arts Academies in Hindustan were flourishing. One academy in Raipur was producing great art that was a marvel of the nation.

chapter50c.png

Dahan, despite not having much of a standing army at the start of the war, quickly built up to hopefully slow down the Hindustan advances. However, they had more problems when Jianzhou Jurchens decided to crash the party as well. The Jianzhou Jurchens was a great distraction as Hindustan managed to finish taking care of business in Lan Xang. Lan Xang, after a couple of years, has expanded quicker than anyone could've imagined. While the war did weaken the Southeast antion, Lan Xang was a threat that cannot be overlooked.

chapter50d.png
chapter50e.png

On the exploration aspect of Hindustan, Udskoye had become a town. The sultan also decided to speed up the colonization rate by introducing colonial ventures. The new idea would promote more people to become colonists. The sultan hopes, with newly discovered land, the people would quickly populate those areas. Ironically, the faster colonization also helped Hindustan reveal Ming on a land near Japan. Unknown how the nation got there, a quick Jihad was declared and Ming was annexed.

chapter50f.png
chapter50g.png

As for European explorers, they have been making good progress.

chapter50h.png

is that austria?

No, it's Sri Vijaya. I'd hate it if Austria can colonize this far :p.

Chapter 51

The war with Dahan went as expected. The Chinese nation once again get the stuffing beat out of her while Hindustan takes what she wants at the end of the day. Neighboring nations saw Hindustan as a bully but none of them dared to go against the mighty Indian nation. Not long after the war, more Chinese provinces were cored by Hindustan and the Chihan culture began to gain acceptance. In a way, this marked the countdown of Dahan's demise.

chapter51a.png
chapter51c.png

Dahan has slowly become a snack for other nations. Split into many pieces, Dahan has become vulnerable to many of their neighbors. Even Jianzhou Jurchen, a minor nation, has won a small victory against Dahan.

chapter51d.png

A few years passed with the sultan bored. To kill some time, he closed his eyes and picked a nation to attack. The unfortunate nation to be picked is Lan Xang. Lan Xang, still trying to recover from their last war with Hindustan, had no chance. The only reason they weren't annexed was simply due to the fact that they have many very rich provinces. However, it was only a matter of time before they too become a part of Hindustan.

chapter51e.png
chapter51g.png

The Hindustan navy had been a laughing stock of Asia. The small numbers and outdated ships resulted in no one fearing Hindustan in naval battles. Thus, efforts were made by the sultan to improve the naval technology of his nation. With a recent breakthrough, Hindustan discovered the way to build Venetian War Galley.
chapter51f.png

The exploration continued smoothly for Hindustan. At first, three colonies became towns and forts were immediately built. The people from two of the new colonies had discovered goods that their province can rely on. A colonial company went bankrupt but the sultan was willing to aid them. After all, 50 ducats was a small expense that the sultan didn't miss at all. Meanwhile, the war against Lan Xang has sent more people heading for colonies. Seeing how this resulted in another new town, the sultan began planning more wars to speed up his colonization efforts.

chapter51h.png

can we see the fruits of the East Hindustan Company's hard labor?

Of course. Colonies are circled in red. As you can see from the map, I've discovered many provinces. With only 0.65 colonists a year, the colonizing is going rather slowly.

you could open up some more COTs FREE TRADE!

There's a COT in the area. Why open up new one when I can just take it.

Chapter 52

The victory of Lan Xang wasn't enough to satisfy the sultan's appetite. He decided to find a new target and Khmer became the lucky winner. In their defense, Joseon entered to aid them. Hindustan have grown stronger since the last time Hindustan fought Joseon. This time, the Indian nation has a strong navy with a competent naval officer. Two naval engagements were all that the naval officer needed to almost annihilate the Joseon fleet. In the process, more ships were captured to bolster the Hindustan navy.

chapter52a.png
chapter52b.png

As planned, more people migrated to colonies with the war against Khmer. The arrivals helped the fishing industry that had just began. Meanwhile, three other colonies have became full fledged towns. The colonization was progressing smoothly and the war hadn't been a problem at all. Like colonization, technology has been improving as well.

chapter52c.png
chapter52d.png

The war, after a few months, came to a close. The Khmer ruler had agreed to an annexation while Joseon, once again, avoided any big losses.

chapter52e.png

congrats on the functional navy, long one of your glaring deficienies

Thanks! I didn't need a functional navy until now. I cannot let my colonies go undefended.

Chapter 53

News have arrived from the captain. He, with his crew, has discovered new lands. When they first saw land, the captain called it Alaska because he had a dream the night before they arrived. Alaska proved to be a very harsh place and setting up a camp was very difficult. The captain decided to sail along the shore more until he reached a slightly more hospitable area. This area would be known as Aleut. Aleut proved to not be very useful as the crew couldn't gather any supplies they needed. With a shortage of supplies, the captain ordered his crew to immediately head back. He knew that, should they die, they must let the sultan know of this new land. In his gut, the captain knew that he had reached the new world.

chapter53a.png

The expedition fleet managed to sail through dangerous seas and returned to Hindustan. The captain then told the sultan of his new discovery. The sultan, intrigued by this discovery, immediately sent his advisor to organize a group of colonists to head to Aleut. With the promise of riches and new lands, people were eager to become colonists. The Philippines colonies were filled up quickly and more people hoped to start a new life. It didn't take long to find a group of colonists willing to make the journey. These colonists knew that they were unlikely to return back to Hindustan. However, the promise of a new and better life proved to be too alluring. The colonists set out to build the first Hindustan colony in the new world. It took the group nearly a year to reach there but they made it. The first colony in the new world has been built and the sultan of Hindustan has began his conquest of the new world. A few weeks after the colony was built, a ship has arrived carrying a small regiments. The sultan wanted to make sure that the locals obey his rule or face annihilation. Meanwhile, people of two colonies had begun production of goods to help speed up the process of the colonies becoming towns.

chapter53b.png
chapter53c.png

To ensure that his colonization go smoothly, the sultan invested heavily in naval tech. He knew that a powerful navy is needed to guard the seas while better ships are needed to ship people to the new world. While the investment into naval tech was taking place, the sultan continued his conquest on southeast Asia. Lan Xang has been weakened but their mere existence was an insult to Hindustan. 3rd Jihad was declared on the Lan Xang and the foolish Dahan emperor decided to aid them. The sultan looked to end the war swiftly as he greatly outnumbered his enemies.

chapter53d.png
chapter53e.png

Lan Xang fell quickly but annexation wasn't possible. Their rich province, Ayutthuya, was the only obstacle for the Hindustan. Luckily, this Jihad left Lan Xang with only one province and the sultan looked to rid them from existence the moment the truce is over. As for Dahan, their foolishness saw their emperor forced to renounced his claim on many Chinese provinces. The sultan believed that a ruler that is incapable doesn't deserve to have claims on lands he cannot take back. In a way, he was doing the emperor a favor. During the negotiations with Dahan, more breakthroughs in technology took place in Hindustan.

chapter53f.png
chapter53g.png

Not long after the war, terrible news arrived from the sea. The expedition fleet had encountered a terrible storm that saw many ships sunk. The captain, barely managing to return, died not long after. The sultan, heartbroken by this incident, began to rethink his dream of conquering the new world. He wondered how many more lives must be lost to chase after a dream that seemed nearly impossible. After all, the Europeans have begun their conquest long before Hindustan. Was it actually worth the trouble?

chapter53h.png

Hindustan in freakin alaska!!! Whathave yoiu done blklizard!!!

Would it make sense if I colonize Africa and Australia instead? Or would you prefer an invasion into the heart of Europe? The British Isles look rather juicy.

Chapter 54

The year 1615 saw Hindustan declare her first war against a Catholic nation. This nation didn't originate from Europe where the Catholic faith was like a disease. Missionaries from Europe have came and converted the people of this nation to the cursed faith. The sultan saw it his duty to cleanse this horrid religion from a nation so close to his nation.

chapter54a.png

While the war went on against the weak and lost nation of Minahasa, a new wave of exploration came across Hindustan. The sultan, following the death of the captain, has refused to employ another explorer. Yet, it would seem that his nation was destined to explore the unknown. Two brothers from a well known noble family approached him and asked to lead expeditions. One was skilled at ships while the other skilled on the land. After much persuasion, the sultan finally gave in and gave them permission to sail. Hindustan was ready to further conquests into the unknown once again.

chapter54b.png
chapter54c.png

Minahasa soon fell to Hindustan regiments and annexed. Interesting enough, their capital city was filled with Protestant heretics. The sultan was glad he kept these faiths under control before they spread to other southeast Asia nations. The elimination of the Catholic faith in the area didn't end his conquest here. He turned his sights on the Hindu nations. In India, Muslims and Hindus have long been sworn enemy. Even though the battlefield was no longer in India, the mission given to his ancestors still applied to the sultan as well. Majapahit was in personal union with a much small nation called Bikaner. The sultan hoped to end this war within a year.

chapter54d.png
chapter54e.png

Up to the war against Bikaner, there were many breakthroughs in technology. The sultan had began dedicating large funds into production tech as the extra bonuses help his colonization efforts.

chapter54f.png

Within a year, Bikaner was defeated and forced to cede many Majapahit provinces.

chapter54g.png

During this entire time, the colonization has been going very smoothly. Aleut, the province near Alaska, proved to contain many gold mines. A truly amazing find for the captain. Three colonies had become towns while the wars, as expected, help sped up the colonization rate.

chapter54h.png

I say Australia. Europe would be a slog

I think I'll do Australia, Africa and finally the new world.

Chapter 55

The sultan turned his attention to another Hindu nation, Sukadana. Two other minor nations decided to join the fun.

chapter55a.png

The naval technology is still the main focus. Apparently, the people of Hindustan see the sultan failing in conquering neighboring states due to the lack of naval supremacy. The sultan wasn't happy to hear this but he agreed that his nation needed to dominate the seas. Therefore, more investments were put into naval technology.

chapter55b.png
chapter55c.png

To the west, the Ottomans won another war against Muscowy. However, the sultan was more interested in his trade technology. He knew that his nation needed to strengthen her trade to increase her income.

chapter55d.png

As for the small war that the sultan wasn't even paying attention too, Negera Dipa agreed to a white peace only to interfere in Hindustan's Jihad against Banten. The first war went awry when Sri Vijaya entered the war. Originally, they were called in to protect Hindustan colonies. Unfortunately, they also occupied a few Sukadana provinces which forced Hindustan to only take one single province. Negera Dipa was taught a small lesson after while Banten was annexed. Overall, the first war was a failure for the sultan. To avoid embarrassment in his court, the sultan decided to distract his subjects with the news of claiming to be the defender of the Sunni faith. In addition, the sultan made some reforms to help his nation become even richer.

chapter55e.png
chapter55f.png

Meanwhile, two other wars were wrapped up. The sultan had no prior notice to those wars but he was glad he can just give the okay to annexation. Colonizations continued to progress smoothly despite having colonies near enemy vicinity.

chapter55g.png

Despite my previous comment, I would still enjoy a sacking of rome

If I were to launch an invasion on Rome, I will need to take Egypt. Until then, I just cannot ferry enough troops there.

Chapter 56

The Hindustan sultan continued his conquest of Southeast Asia. There were still many tiny Hindu nations in the region that needed to be integrated by Hindustan. Ternate was the first and they fell quickly. The tiny nation of Ternate didn't have a standing army and thus their people needed proper protection. The sultan knew that he can provide the protection. With Ternate annexed, the sultan had some unfinished business to attend to. Kutai, Negara Dipa and Sukadana were destined to be annexed in this war. As a precaution, the sultan didn't call in Sri Vijaya. However, he did enlarge his navy prior to the war and now commanded the seas in the region. It would be a matter of time before the three nations fall and Hindustan is a step closer to controlling all of Southeast Asia.

chapter56a.png

In one of her provinces, Hindustan people had struck a gold rush. People began pouring into the area to dig for gold. A large amount of gold were sent directly to the Hindustan capital where the sultan planned to have a few sculptures made in gold.

chapter56b.png

A minor setback took place in colonization as a colonial company went bankrupt. While the expense was small, the sultan wasn't happy that he was bothered with such a minor problem. Luckily, the news of another province producing naval supplies had the sultan in a slightly better mood. In addition, another province became a town.

chapter56c.png

Trade technology continued to be the focus of the Indian nation. The sultan hoped to begin the construction of Refineries as soon as possible.

chapter56d.png

I apologize for the short update. I just realized that I didn't have anymore screenshots :p. Time for me to play this nation.

Chapter 57

The year 1630 saw a new sultan rising to the throne. The new sultan, well rehearsed in war, was ready to prove himself.

chapter57a.png

The new sultan noticed a small Hindu nation called Bima. The previous sultan missed the nation on the map due to its small size. Therefore, a Jihad was declared. The war against Sukadana and Kutai were wrapped up quickly. Bima ruler agreed to annexation shortly after. The sultan now only had to deal with Negara Dipa.

chapter57b.png

To his surprise, the sultan discovered that the Mongol Khanate declared war on him. With 8 thousand men, the Mongol Khanate was asking for a beating. Not even bothered by the new war, the sultan annexed Negara Dipa and started a new Jihad against Majapahit. Bikaner decided to not answer the call this time and the sultan hope to end this war swiftly.

chapter57c.png

During the wars, the sultan still pushed his scholars to make new discoveries. The funding towards technology has never been cut and major breakthroughs were still taking place.

chapter57d.png

The Mongol Khanate, after a small beating, wished to get out of the war with a white peace. With his reputation on the line, the sultan decided to let this small annoyance pass. Meanwhile, Majapahit was annexed and the last Hindu nation in Southeast Asia was removed from the map.

chapter57e.png

The sultan decided that his nation needed a change. Therefore, absolute monarchy was implemented. In short, the sultan now had the absolute power over everything. There were some oppositions but his treasurer was able to make the transition smoother.

chapter57f.png

The sultan's heir was ill one day. With his mind elsewhere, he told his subjects to mind their own business. Thus, no medics were sent and the heir died. The sultan wasn't bothered one bit as he was planning his next move.

chapter57g.png

More breakthroughs were made while colonization, largely taking place in Oceania, still continued smoothly.
