Problem registering the game?

I just bought March of the Eagles from Amazon.com and received a product code, but when I tried activating it on the forum is says the key is invalid. This is the only place I can post because I can't post in the support section, so can anyone please tell me what to do (is it that I need to activate the game on steam, then steam will give me a forum key? because I haven't tried that yet)

That key you got on Amazon is not a Paradox forum key, but a Steam activation key - entirely unrelated. Activate it on Steam, run the game once and you'll see a menu option in Steam against the game "View CD Key". That is the one you register with here.

Thank you although I just found that Steam can't start now... (It says you need to connect to the internet first, which I already have)
