So, after my various (mis)adventures with non-European countries went....less than spectacularly, i decided that i'd try to head back to Europe, however i always found the great powers a wee bit boring after awhile, i was wondering if there were any other European countries that can do a good job at playing the colonial game? (AGCEEP or default) I've already seriously considered giving Venice a twirl. Any general advice on this? I would especially love some help on improving my chances of getting random explorers/conquistadors. Also if there's any other minors that are fun or even non European countries that can expand in the Americas/Africa/South East Asia would be fine too.

Just try all countries in alphabetical order ^^

I had a game with Venice in which I received a lot of conquistadors. By that time, most of the more choice places had been colonized already, but I was still able to have a fairly extensive colonial empire in Africa and parts of North America. It's also bit more of a challenge and perhaps more interesting to take those places.

Well, China is an obvious non-European coloniser.
