Rome II total war vs. EU4 had "one" big advantage Paradox games never had...open-field battles...well since CA managed to screw that too(pretty much all reasons mentioned in previous posts) EU4 wins on all fronts in the end.

If you are undecided about buying Rome II , my advice is wait a bit...like a year until a good mod comes out.

Good mod on bad game is... well not that great.
I prefer good mod on good game because spending cash for a game just to throw it away and put a mod instead is like buying a coffee throwing it away and put in the cup some tea from someone else.

Meanwhile the TW series while having a good concept and being pretty fun overall has been plagued by the same problems for years, throwing money at them apparently didn't solve them, and now it's only getting worse..

That is to be expected. Assuming it is either a management problem or a structural problem at CA then throwing money at it will only make it worse.

I don't understand what so many people are complaining about. Rome Total War 2 is amazing and I find absolutely nothing wrong with it. My expectations were exceeded. The graphics were decent, the cultures are fleshed out, and the gameplay has me hooked. I have had no lag, no CTDs, no bugs. What in the blazes is so bad about it?? What more do you want from this game? I do not understand what people expect to gain from bashing Total War games. If you don't like it, don't play it. It's too bad that you feel your money is wasted. You should have watched some youtube gameplay first.
I feel bad optimisation when I play it. And I also feel like fatigue from the game comes faster because of certain parts being underdevelloped.

A decent game, but it could of been much much better.

I am still enjoying the game actually! I did however just buy Medieval Total War 2. I have never played it but I love what I see from the youtube gameplay. It's downloading from Steam even as we speak. It will be nice to have a medieval and ancient world TW to play depending on my mood.
