The Price of a Mile

Hello and welcome to the Price of a Mile! I got the idea for the game a little while ago from my previous game but I was not sure about how to implement it or what time period. Thankfully some people helped me and now I am able to start another game once again. The best way I think to describe this game is pretty much a World War One soldier simulator in the Northamptonshire regiment. Who fought from Western Europe and also in the Levant against the Ottomans, so there is a wide variety I think of places where this game could go. A note on historical accuracy though, I am not the best historian of World War One so I will most likely get a thing wrong per update but they may be of design. For example this isn't supposed to be a true to life WW1 simulator and situations and battles could come out extremely different. The Germans may push all the way to Paris and win the war if the rolls go their way which is part of the reason I chose the Mons. The battle was mainly a delaying action but it helped to slow down the Germans. But my point is that it won't go exactly like Real Life and crazy things may happen as well on the other fronts. SO I hope you enjoy the game if you join it and enjoy just reading the thread if you don't from time to time

IRC Channel: #TPOAMStart Date: The Battle of the Mons, Northamptonshire Regiment
Stats:
The will nominally be like this:
Name:
Role:
Rank: (from Sergeant to private and everything in between)
Current equipment: (like if they're a machine gun operator they may carry ammo belts and a pistol or something like that plus other things they buy)
Combat Efficiency: (their total aptitude for combat and how useful they are)
Experience: (would range from 1-10 with 1 being a raw recruit and 10 being a hardened veteran which would help them survive)
Intelligence: (how good they are at their job especially valuable for medics and operators)
Tactical expertise: (how good they are in special situations, can’t be increased on furlough but by battle)
Strength: (higher chance to survive when defending, can be raised on furlough)
Speed: (higher chance to survive when attacking and can be raised on furlough)
Currency: (how much money they have to buy things when on furlough to buy things privately from a market)
Traits: (a player can chose one to help a stat or just in general but it may come with a downside)
Some of these stats will be modified by the pre-battle phase where it is a furlough or in your trench before battle.
Battle mechanics:
A formula used to determine the overall battle rather than the other individual rolls.
Rolls:
Keep in mind these can be modified by the equipment/skills/what the character is good at.
1-2: Death or MIA (in case of MIA you will be sent a PM detailing where exactly you and and what is happening around you)
3-5: Severely wounded (chance to survive depends on the medics intelligence)
6-8: Minor wounds ( can put the character out of battle except in defense situations and MIA situations)
9-10: Practically unscathed
Ranks:
Each part of the platoon would be divided into sections (optimally 3 of 8)depending on player amount.
Each section would be a Corporal, Lance Corporal, and 6 privates(riflemen). The medic will be attached to the general platoon but will be able to float around and help the other platoons unless the Sergeant orders otherwise for some reason.
Machine Gunners: Separate platoon with 3 machine gun operators, and a machine gunner with the operators being privates and the gunner a Corporal.
Third Section: Led by the sergeant who commands each section with the remaining rifleman and any other special roles.
Medals:
Victoria Cross ( Awarded to exceptional heroic actions)
Distinguished Service Order (exceptional action while fighting the enemy)
Military cross (same as above)
Distinguished Conduct medal (for bravery in action)
If you fulfill one of these requirements you might get one as a result of your actions.

What one of the standard riflemen looked like in 1914
Starting normal equipment: 1 Lee-Enfield Rifle, 10 clips of ammunition (100 rounds +10 in gun), a combat hat (until you get a helmet), a bayonet and 3 days rations in case in the field. Medics would get a basic medical kit with medical supplies and maybe one pistol with 3 clips of ammunition. The sergeant would get a watch, whistle, binoculars, a pistol and 5 clips of ammunition. 1 operator will get a rifle with the same as a rifleman but the other 2 a pistol with 2 clips of ammunition and a maintenance kit for repairing the machine gun and servicing it.
In between Battles:
You can search the battlefield if you won for momentos and special stuff such as German money or something like that but if you roll under a 2 you will be killed by a trap probably. You can also buy/trade stuff that is not required to other players. You will receive a monthly sum of money as well which will be your pay.

Experience: (only the Sergeant at start will have some from previous conflicts)

The other things like speed and such would be determined by me when looking at your character.
