They are looking way better than i thought. The release pictures were kind of lame in my opinion...
I agree. I also like the sound of them.

First impression is pretty good, but I would like to see some support.
I'm planning on making a video later tonight if I can get a busy system going. I'm posting it in the screenshot/video thread.

Edit:
I want to post two pics of an intercahnge station. I build a line in a Q shape just for testing the mono rail.
I think it turned out nicely

I also want to contribute 2 pictures ;)

Nice! This addition feels and seems much more worthwhile than before, thanks to the player made pictures. You are promoting this dlc with higher success than the release pictures, strangely...

P.S. i guess my fav vehicle will be the russian one, i really like the desing of it. The others are quite nice as well...

I'm sorry you feel let down. I still feel we have done a good job with the time, budget and resources we have had so far. Unity does allow modding, it's just a bit more tricky for a finished game. KBS is in alpha stage and has been for years, they are doing an excellent job with the mod support and I hope we can in the future learn things from them :) There are mods available to CiM2 on these very forums. I myself am hopeful that more mods will appear, things just take some time.

CiM2 in also a very different animal from CiM1. The cities are not modelled after real life cities, but are definitely more generic, but at the same time a lot more dynamic. I do hope the monorail will bring something new to the game for most players, since I personally think it's a nifty little thing combining some of the best aspects of the metro and tram.

You have definitely made a good job. I pre-ordered the game, I enjoyed it, and I have recognized its potential. Which is not going to be exploited, I am afraid. It's all about the marketing strategy you adopted. You spent your resources on the creation of a very open and dynamic environment, which is quite good. The second stage of your strategy was to release small and cheap dlcs, vehicles and buildings. I vought the first ones immediately, because at the time of their release I was still enjoying the gameplay experience... until I started feeling the limitations coming from bad AI e lack of variety in the cities. How much a monorail give us variety in the gameplay, considering that I can have almost the same kind of transportation with the pre-metro (thanks to eis_os' mod or by customizing the lenght of the metro train)? Not much in my opinion. I'm not against these dlcs strategy, nevermind what's been selling, it's up to the costumer to decide if to buy or not. I simply hoped for a different approach by the developers. A very open and dynamic system with limited features (come on, a urban transport game without airports, train stations, harbours?) and dumb AI (I know you will never admit it) made me think that there were the premises for a bunch of magnificent add-ons that added new gameplay feature like new social classes and new gameplay approaches. For example: an interurban add-on, with people going in and out the map through the highways, rail, plane + a new class: the commuter. Or an add-on based on tourism, with more hotels, leisure buildings, beaches, natural reserves, skiing resorts. Something like this. You have creted an awesome but far from being perfect gaming platform. There are so many things that could make this game GREAT, but what we have being offered since the release is a bunch of vehicles more, a bunch of landmarks, and basically a retextured metro system. Maybe there is simply no way to make things happen as I wish due to budget/technical limitations, but it's sad to see such a potential wasted and yes.. I felt the urge to share these considerations:(

No game is perfect, and I don't really feel like paying 14 dollars for some train graphics. But I don't see how they could do it well otherwise, the key aspect of the game is vehicles, more vehicles is good.

I can imagine the nobody forced you to use that engine, so I guess that for you the CON of not allowing modding support wasn't a critic point compared to the PROs that you were taking in consideration.
oh but modding is definitly allowed. it's just damn hard to accomplish. And as tired as you may be of hearing this, but games are more complex now than in the past. With past games(like CIM1) developers got away with not giving you a way to add custom content, because it was easy enough for the community to reverse-engineer it themselves. Now please compare for example CiM1 to the complexity of the Unity package format, or the Unreal Engine.
You have to spend a considerable amount of time to develop the necessary tools to work with these packages. And before that you have to decipher how they actually work of course.

I guess the lesson here is if you want to support modding as a developer: Just not implementing any measures against modding and allowing/encouraging the community to do modding might not be enough.

I don't know Kerbal Space Program but someone in this thread has claimed that it uses the same engine and it is fully moddable. Can anyone confirm this?
yes

Decus: could you provide us some pictures about your monorail system? I'm curious about it. If you are willing to make some screenshots please put them inside The screenshot/video thread...

Sure, here's some (had third one of Toyoka, but it fails to upload):

Also, like I said it's almost criminally easy to make profit with these. My first line has income/expenses of 40000/5000 and the second one has 27000/2750, and I don't even feed them much yet.

If it is possible then give some basic guides on where bits are kept ( i am no modder so i dont know what they would need) but even if you gave people some information on where files are stored and easy things that you will know but the modders may find pretty hard to find. ask the community of modders what they would need and from that take a realistic list of things that you can provide and then spend a day or two with the whole team and blitz it... please just get it sorted at the moment i am only seeing one guy modding and i am guessing it's because there is no support behind it no ability to ask you for a bit of help.
and for the love of god please keep us updated on whats coming dont let us wait for 5 months hype it up a month before to as what we are getting and let us down with a reskinned dlc of waterbusses that fly or what ever your next idea will be.

I'm looking forward to seeing it!
Thanks. I'm not sure if I'm able to make the video I want tonight though. I figure the capacity of the monorail is somewhere in between the tram and metro. It has more or less the same seats as a tram, but since it's not affected by traffic as the tram is, it is much more efficient. But comparing to metro, which I did initially, it can't handle rush hour in the same way.
So I need to plan for the monorail from the get go, or adjust the capacity in the ruleset editor. Either way, I need to start a new game. Or I could adjust all my existing tram lines to accommodate the monorail, but that seems to much of a hassle now.

I'm liking the monorail more and more btw.

If you are referring to the framerate drop issue, that was reported yesterday and we are looking into that :)

This should be priority #1. The game is near unplayable now.
