Okay, I'm not sure if I'll have time to sort out my Visual Studio version before going to visit my family (which won't give me time until Sunday). In the meanwhile, if any other developers are available, you can run the build_and_test.bat file, and it should just do everything (well, you might have to get the paths right in the test configs, but that should be easy). If it does, and the saves load in EU3 without crashing, I'll make sure you have upload permissions on SourceForge. Name it version 1.01.

And if you don't already have upload permissions, send me an email at the address in my sig, I may not see the forums until I'm home again.

Edit: I got it to build, but I've got crashes during the tests. Sorry everyone, we're not quite ready yet.

Should be OK now. I still get one last crash in the tests, but the same file (Hispania1399_10_17) crashes the 1.0 release version that's on SF now, so I'm not gonna let that one hold us up ;)

1.01 is posted, and it converts CK2 2.0.1 games just fine as far as I can tell. Speak up if you still have issues.

Brief summary of changes:
  • Now works with CK2 2.0.1 saves.
  • Various nifty changes to mod generation.
  • Frontend now autodetects non-Steam EU3 installs.
  • Crashes slightly less often.

Happy Thanksgiving, folks!

I had hoped that as my gf drove us off, the emails I got about check-ins were you taking care of things. I was well pleased to get back from my family time to see it was true. Ironically, when I reposted your post to Reddit, I got gold for the first time, and I found that funny for something where you did more work. Are you on Reddit? I'd like to mention you in the future…

And I loved your one comment. May I add that I'd wish they'd learn from EU3 and add new provinces only after the existing map numbers. Ugh!

I wasn't able to get Visual Studio 2013 to work, but I was able to use the GUI from the previous release to configure 1.01, and I'm currently playing a no-mod converted game. I had no crashes once I used the GUI; the only log entry out of place was "the given path's format is not supported." But that didn't prevent a solid, high-quality save from being converted. If it wouldn't waste anyone's time, and if anyone could recommend a filehosting service, I could upload my experiment.

My save successfully converted. It crashes as soon as I unpause, though.

Here's the converted save if anyone else wants to give it a try, and here's the CK2 save.

That's interesting...I'm at work right now, so I can't easily check. Were you using the converter mod, or converting to vanilla? If you were using the mod, can you try again with vanilla and see if that works?

I am not on Reddit, sorry :) And I'm OK with any credit going to you...that's not why I work on these converters ;)

You'll get a strong "yes, please" from me for only appending to province numbers. Or they could namespace them, like they've started doing with other moddable entities...that would be sweet.

No luck. I was using the converter mod, but converting without still messed it up. Could it have anything to do with the fact that I was using 'Balanced' settings instead of what was selected by default?

Edit: I tried with all default settings and it still crashed. I have no clue what's different that would make it fail.

Just converted a save from old gods to the converter mod as an experiment, worked like a charm except for: the Converter decided to use Aragon as the Arabian empire tag, and Germany has its vassals but doesn't exist.

Hiya. I have the HRE in 1399 that I tried to convert to Eu3. It says there are too many titles and aborts. I know why it is doing that but how do I fix it? Is it because there are too many Kingdoms in my Empire? Should I go on a revoking spree? Thanks.

Hmmm, it should automatically do that for you until there are enough titles. There must be a lot of completely independent rulers in your game. But if you tell it to use the converter mod, it will add those titles to the EU3 mod for you, which should avoid that problem (and avoid tags ending up in strange places).

I think you must mean this? ### Mod Options

# useConverterMod: whether or not to use the converter mod. Options are:
# "yes"
# "no"
useConverterMod = "yes"

Yep!

New Question(for me at least), sorry if someone else asked elsewhere. I converted My Holy Roman Empire the first time with the HRE option left as it was from default. (What was it set as for the default? I forgot! :() When I did this I ended up as Bavaria and most of my empire was now shaded grey. I think tried it with the HRE option set to: "". My land was thus restored to me but for some reason I have no culture and can't build any troops because I have no culture. Thanks :)

The default would make the CK2 HRE the (disunited) HRE in EU3, and you would be whatever your primary king-level title is. (Bavaria, I guess). With it blank, it should have united the HRE.

Both sets of problems sound like the converter mod isn't properly set up. Did you make sure to drop the modded converter files your converter directory? And did you install the mod files over a copy of your V2 install?

Yes I did both. Want me to send you the saves so you can check them out?

Sure, though it may take me some time to get around to looking at it. I'm focusing on Eu4->V2 at the moment.
